Thanks for your hard work in compiling all this, Knbg. Since you are on weaving traditions starting with 'B', will you be covering Bhagalpur saris of Bihar and Bishnupuri of Bengal?

Oh, I just noticed that you've moved on to 'C' with my all-time favourite, the Madhya Pradesh Chanderi. I am specifying the state because I have heard people talk of Chanderi from Benares and Andhra Pradesh also, which don't have the gossamer delicacy like the MP fabric.

    Re: Sarees of India-Chanderi Sarees

Pure silk Chanderi saris are available in a limited way. I bought one at Handloom House in Hyderabad a few years ago and a pure tissue silk sari from a private vendor in Bhopal two years ago, who swears by its lasting quality. When I enquired with weavers at a handloom exhibition 2 years ago as to why they did not sell pure silk saris, they told me that the saris tear at the folds when they are folded and stored for a long time. I read somewhere that this is due to the quality of the imported yarn which some weavers use, causing its breakage over time.
