    Re: Sarees of India-Bomkai

One more Saree from Orissa is Bomkai Saree.
Also known as Sonepur Saree, these are traditional from the coastal district of Orissa.
The motiffs are mostly sea inspired and also mythological characters and events.
The designs are mostly made as thread work and the sarees are preferred by Kathak dancers.

The price range is Rs.4000+ and Boyanika is Orissa Handloom Co operative society.
Also can check for National Silk expo in your city and visit there and shop, shop, shop....:)-)

Thanks for the visit Saisakthi akka.
Sure, would ping you when I come to Mysore silks:)-
I have always been fascinated by the smooth and soft Mysore Silk sarees.
When I was in college, I used to be soo thin that the saree would not suit me at all:spin.
It's time for me now, to get a few of them- one of the few perks of being heavier...:rotfl:bonk:rotfl

    Re: Sarees of India-Chanderi Sarees

Let us now see Chanderi Sarees.

Chanderi sarees are a beautiful blend of cotton in warp and silk in weft- thus giving the best of both.
Light weight, glossy and durable, Chanderi sarees are a must have!
Chanderi Sarees are traditionally woven at Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh.

Mrignayani - is the MP State Emporium and the prices start from Rs.2000+.
There is another variant with 100% cotton in Chanderi sarees and these cost lesser than the Cotton-Silk Chanderi Silk sarees.
