First rinse raisins, dates and figs in very cold water before putting them through the food chopper. They will not form a gummy mass.
Hi Hina, here is the halwa recipe: Dryroast 1 cup sooji in a kadai, while it is getting roasted pour 4 cups of water in a vessel and mix 1 cup of sugar in it. You can opt to add a pinch of elaichi powder for a good aroma and few strands of saffron. Now keep this water filled vessel on another burner. Once the sooji starts changing it color and turns little pink/red, add generous amount of ghee. I haven't measured it but i make sure that sooji gets immersed in it with just a little layer of ghee over it. Now let sooji roast in ghee for couple of minutes..once the color changes to light brown add 1 cup finely chopped cashews, almonds, pistachios and whole raisins and roast alongwith sooji (you can adjust the quantity to less than a cup if you don't like nuts overload...I personally love dry fruits so i never hesitate to add this much...:-d ) By this time water would have boiled, now add this water slowly to he sooji stirring it regularly so that there are no lumps in halwa....keep stirring till he time sooji starts to leave the surface of kadai...you can also add dry coconut powder before turning off the gas...it tastes good. Give it a try and let me know if you like it...-D
I roast the suji in gheee and when it starts changing colour, then add water and sugar. Cut dry fruits in the last
