As expected.... after PILs left for their place, the remaining butter from 500gms brick developed huge fungus.. and had to be thrown....
It was almost 1/2 brick left, which if they continue their stay, would have finished in a weeks time... and exactly after a week with the layers of jam, mango and chutney etc etc.... the brick LOST its BATTLE for hygienic survival.

I handed over the fragile box to MILs darling son, to inspect if he's ok to continue eating it on his BREAD.... but sadly he also felt that the DENSE fungus shall effect his immune system.......... and is FIT to be THROWN... With a heavy heart he bid adeau to the dying butter brick.........

like this butter, in my inlaws place so many things are there
pickle, coconut (lying in the fridge for more than 2months), curd (no manufactre date). idli/dosa batter, some sambar. once in a while I am throwing one by one.

But, when they and DD visit it is for 'spiritual enrichment'. The glowing aura of theirs lit up the whole temple and The Lord himself feels refreshed and immediately grants them their wishes. :rotfl

My MIL is doing some 'japa' for last 10yrs. To quote her : "whenever I meet someone after a long time, they are surprised to see the glow around me. They always tell me that my 'teja' is increasing everyday. I wish my mom has named me 'Tejaswini'. It would have suited me best. (with a silly giggle)" :spin :drowning:bangbonk

Yes dear. She regularly advises me, my parents, my grandparents, any of my remote relatives to take 'anugraha' (don't know whats its called in english. fellowship, maybe) from her guruji. Everytime someone has even a smallest of trouble in their life and she gets wind of it, she has to call them up and advise it. Sometimes back, my uncle was looking for a match for my cousin sister (she got married now). Without being asked, my MIL calls up my dad and says. "your brother should seek our guruji's advice. He only can tell whether she has 'lagna (marriage) -yoga' in her fate." My dad was :rant as she was just 24. its not as if she was too old for marriageable age. :bonk

But I've to grant one point to MIL. She and SIL, together, have completely converted SIL's husband and his family to follow their ways. :spin She tried to repeat the same success story with us, but we didn't budge. So she gets frustrated often.

(Nothing against her Guruji, though. He is wise yet humble and a very simple man. You cannot help but respect him. )

No after 20 years it will be "It happens only with DILs" ;-) most of us would be the victimised MILs :-D I have observed one thing the ones who adjust n are compatible will have to adjust with everyone. The one who dominates will dominate both as DIL n MIL eg. Our mils the ones who adjust to mils have to adjust to DILs too :-( that is us... I feel our gen is the cursed one. We never talked back to our parents, rt from dress to education we lived by their choice.. Now we r listening to kids too..
Definitely 20 yrs down the line I am seeing a good future for this thread

Wow....after 20 years....I wonder how will be Indusladies....May be there will be two subforums named relationship with DILs and relationship with MILs.

Anu, why do we have to adjust to our DILs?...Most of us have preferred to stay alone in our old ages giving our son and DIL privacy.....

Exactly, my MIL has no problems of MIL though her MIL passed away 97 3 yrs back and yet I,,,,well read my posts. She expects FIL to obey her and my DH should never pay heed to me!!!!

I had to laugh at these two points - because it happens at my place!
I cannot break coconuts - I never get it right, so I always ask my DH to do it

And I prepare all the powders at home myself - dhania powder, jeera powder, methi powder, pepper powder, red chilli powder, tea masala podi, idli podi, til podi, sambar podi, rasam podi, even haldi, I get it done through a known person using dried turmeric and also chyavanprash for my kid, I do it myself... so I really found it funny that it happens only with inlaws (I dont have MIL)!!
