Dear all After 17 years of my married life, now had a chance to perform Mangali Pondugal at home (Sumangali Prarthanai)... It was for some reason or the other every year, it would be postponed and the reason was analysed and found out. Now it has been decided at any cost to perform Mangali Pondugal at Home this coming sunday on 9th june. My mother-in-law who is at home now, has made a list of things to be prepared for lunch to be served to all the sumangalis... I am listing out the same... If any thing is missed out, fellow IL-ites may please inform the same here, so that the same may also be included in the list for preparation.. Paayasam or Sakkarai Pongal Coconut Patchadi Sweet Patchadi Kosumalli (Salt) (Payathamparuppu) Kosumalli (Sweet) (Kadalaiparuppu) Vazhakkai Curry Podalangaai Curry Chow Chow Koottu Pitlai Morekuzhambhu Rasam Methu Vadai Appam Kalantha Saatham (Variety rice) Curry leaves chutney Rice Curd And for distributing Thamboolam - Nalangu Manjal, Ravikkai Bit, Manjal, Kumkumam, Comb, Betel leaves, fruit, betel nut, etc are suggested Can you guys can please suggest if anything is left out..... Of course Onbathu Gajam Podavai would be given to my elder naathanar (My DH's elder sister) which is being purchased today... Nandri
Hello Mami, My two cents. Guess for Kanya Ponnu also, Pavadai and Ravikkai should be given. For Ladies who are participating, sikakai and Nallennai should be given the previous day. In our home we have custom of offering Neer Mor and Panakam too. Please check on this. Cheers, Brindha
while giving ennai seegaikkai manjal/podi should be given.while giving thamboolam nalngu should be applied.in my mother's family they even give marudhani.after feeding them neermore panagam to be given. i pray GOD FOR YOU TO DO IT IN A NICE MANNER.
you didn't mention about bakshanam.i do remember sojji appam is an important one. bcoz,i tasted it in a pondugal only as a kanya ponnu for the first time in my childhood days.
Dear Malathi Mami 1. We used to give a pack of marudhani powder in the thamboolam. 2. A small kannadi will also be a part of thamboolam.
