A friend wrong me once, and I did not speak to him for 10 years, then one day a middle man contacted me, saying he wants to talk to me, shall I give him yr number I said fine, then the friend called apologized, and we met after a decade, with a hug and that is that. But I never kept that grudge, and never bore illwill, for I had other things to do in life.

Wow kamalji, knowing you I know you have just penned down these thoughts but there is a world of wisdom in those that is going to be useful for many of us in keeping relationships.Loved this post :thumbsup

Today I read a very beautiful article in the DNA, “ I WANT TO BE A FAILURE, LIKE WALT DISNEY”.
And it made me think a lot, taking my mind away from Sanjay Dutt’s surrender, and the IPL scandal

Walt Disney was betrayed by his employees, who were his friends, his business associates, who stole his creation, Oswald the lucky rabbit, and made him come on his knees. Plus Walt Disney also went bankrupt.

What would most of us have done? Harboured revenge against those that stole our things, and stabbed us in the back. Hired expensive lawyers to fight our case, get back Oswald the rabbit, and have those collegues of mine behind bars. And carried revenge all thru, burning myself in the bargain, for how can I be creative with revenge burning in me.

But WD forgot all that, and also forgot the spits he got when he was down and out, and did not look back at the past, and instead looked to the future, and created Mickey Mouse !!!!! And people forgot Oswald, and its new owner, and remembers Mickey Mouse and WD.

There is so much to learn from all this, that is to forget the past, and to move to the future. The rising fires of revenge, will burn us in the present, make our brains stand still, and take us to penury and court cases and misery in the future.

Reminds me of my dad, a small timer, please bear with me and look what happened to him. Dad was unsuccessful till his age of 40 or so. He opened many businesses but all closed down. Then he started to work as a manager with an export company, which had some 4 or 5 brothers, one being based in Mumbai and others having offices overseas.This company exported handicrafts made of Lac, wood, ivory(when it was legal), dad travelled all over india to buy and source these handicrafts from the direct manufacturers, to save on costs as the quantities were big, and he got them a better deal.

Dad’s salary was fixed at 800 bucks, but this was not given in one shot but in parts to keep my dad in check. After around 4 years, when we were going thru terrible financial times, being sent away from school bcs we could not pay the fees of 5 bucks a month, we were four brothers, so 20 bucks a month, for 6 months in a row, Dad asked the boss for his salary dues, pending all these years.

The boss said “ Mr. X,who told u yr salary is 800/- u are not worth even 400 bucks. Dad was shocked, he said he cried, he put the office keys on the table and told the boss, I am not coming from tomm. Boss told him, come home, and over a drink or two we will discuss yr salary, but dad said, keep it, and I promise that from now on, I will never work for anyone but myself.

Dad came home crying, his mother, that is my grandmother, consoled him, and She and my mom, took out their little jewellery that they had, which dad pawned and started his own export business, with a capital of a thousand or so, and there was no looking back.The pawned jewellery never came back.But later dad bought a lot for my mom .

He never held a grudge against his boss, and said he is rather thankful that this happened, otherwise if the boss had kept him happy, even we , his sons would be working today for the same boss, and things would have been different.He got on like Walt Disney did, I guess both did it in the sixties.

It does not pay to hold grudges. I too have been wronged, I too have been cheated from people I trusted a lot, but well , I cut them off from my life, I never think of them, and when someone metntions them to me, I just cut short the topic, for I don’t want to listen. I don’t want to waste my precious time and energy on such people, and I have much better things to do. That is why I keep cheerful and happy and it reflects in my blogs.

So friends, I think we can learn something from the life of Walt Disney, read the whole article, there is nothing to learn from small people like me, who will be forgotton on death, at least I was very happy to read his article , that when people think all is dead and gone, u can still rise from the ashes to be stronger than before.

if we see closely, what do we gain by holding on to grudges. Yes we feel bad if we are insulted or cheated, but then , i read somewhere, if someone hurts u once, it is his fault, but if he hurts u twice, then it is yr fault.So by moving away from the erring person, we save time and energy.

You know , Ilites are very kind, what can i say, it was a normal blog, just that some news reports remind me of some similar parts in my life, and people happen to like it, and nominate it. You dont know how much i am touched kamla. The other day one blogger told me, that even yr cancer makes news.HAHA.
