    Re: Cooking Oil

    Hi,

For regular cooking, Mazola Corn Oil , Canola oil are all good.

I use olive oil too...but since it does not have high smoking point like other oils, it is better to use if for salads, mix it with corn oil when making indian curries, also when making dosas, adais, mixing for milagai podi etc.

Dont use olive oil for deep frying and heavy sauteing since it may cause burning and smoke. It is always better to mix it with other oils ( which have high smoking point) when you make curries, for seasoning etc.

    Cheers

    Re: Cooking Oil

    Hi,
I have read in many articles that olive oil is not good for cooking since it has low smoking point. Do have a look at this link: WHFoods: Book Owners' Privileges

Olive oil is best used for salads but not for cooking as far as I know.

    Love

    Hello Hemalatha,

Please go through the following link

Cooking with olive oil - The Olive Oil Source

It clearly mentions that Olive oil is good for cooking and is not convered into saturated or trans-fatty oil while heating it.

    Cheers

    Re: Cooking Oil

    Hi,
my DIL is a stickler to health, nutrition aspect of cooking, (is really obsessive about using only organic food products) uses olive oil and canola oil for lightcooking, olive for salad dressing etc., saffola for deep frying and gingily oil , sparingly coconut oil for regular cooking. It is advisable to use atleast 2 or 3 types of oil to balance each other.:coffee
