    1) Brush your teeth, shave, wash utensils with water in the mug. Don't use wash basin.

If we go back to the old tradition of using water in the mug for all purposes, we will definitely be saving more water.

    2) Please close all the taps properly. We think that we have closed it. But water will be dripping drop-by-drop. Unfortunately, each & every drop is wasted without fully closing it.

As the proverb goes, a small drop makes an ocean.

These are very common areas of saving water.:)

there are many ways to save water as mentioned by so many IL's .just adding that whenever our overhead tank overflows....... the water from the terrace is connected to the rain water harvesting tank where the water is collected and charges the underground water.

Don't use shower gels or other soaps which takes lot of water to rinse off.

When I rinse vegetables and rice (before I cook), I don't throw the water, I use them to water my plants at home.

Let me add only one thing here. If it is a single house or even in apartment, try to drain the rain water into earth than letting it to flow in drainage. It is a big water loss to the ocean which we can't consume.

    Hi all

Thanks every one for the nice tips

Let me start with few changes

    No more long showers

I shall use bucket for shower and mug for brushing teeth

Use remaining water from the water bottles to water the plants

    Teach kids the same
Using the washer for full loads

If we can afford I shall plan to get the purifying system of the bath and the kitchen water for the sprinklers for the lawn

I shall update my progress here in this thread

Wishing to learn more about rain water harvesting
