Re: TTC progress & two weeks wait... Part-II

    hi,

sorry for the delayed reply. i was not finding time to sit on net. Yes, surely i will tell u the Durga vilakku pooja procedure as i did. U have to do this pooja during Raagukaalam on Fridays or Tuesdays for 9 weeks. Choose either of these 2 days. If you are a working women, u can do it on Sundays.

    - Take a lemon, cut it in 2 halfs exactly equal. Squeeze out the juice and twist the lemon slowly such that the inside portion is out and the outside portion is in. Apply chandan and kumkum to the lemon.
    - Take a plate (pooja plate - preferrably). Apply chandan kumkum to the plate on 4 sides.
    - Decorate the plate with some loose flowers(udhiri poo), & keep these 2 pcs of lemons in the centre of the plate.
    - U can use ghee or gingelly oil. Lit the vilakku in Raagukaalam and pray whatever is in ur mind and then start Chanting Durgai amman 108 Naamavali
    - Finally offer some fruits for neivedhiyam.

U can get this 108 naamavali in any pooja books. See if u have a book for Navarthiri poojai where there are naamavalis for Durga, lakshmi and saraswathi devis. As there are no temples in the place where i live i did this pooja at home.
Any more doubts about this pooja kindly ask me.

    Laxmi

Re: TTC progress & two weeks wait... Part-II

Thank you all for your kind wishes:cheers IL has been of huge help..

When I got married, my DH had a problem of premature ejaculation, which we resolved together with a lot of love and support from each other, within few months. Then when we decided to have a baby after 2 years of marriage, DH lost his job in the US, which resulted us in moving back to India last year..

Now we both are happy in our respective jobs,we finally decided to have a baby..In he 1st month itself when we got unsuccesful, we got his SA analysis which showed oligospermia, which broke our hearts. 2months he was on supplements and some ayurvedic medications (which a dear IF member had shared), later upon reanalysis his sperm count was normal. So perhaps the first test was incorrect.

Then this third TTC cycle I conceived.
What different I did? We BDed on CD5,6, 8,9,10 and 13. I got my LH surge on CD9. I do not know the date of my ovulation. So I may have ovulated anywhere from CD9 to CD11.

I did not move after IC, put my feet up for good 20 mins.

Somehow I had a feeling this will be my month. I was down to last box of my Clearblue OPK, and the first time I detected a surge (else I was wondering whether I was even ovulating). Went home for Ganpati, prayed a lot to god..Did not keep a track of my days. Then I realized I was already on CD29, was happy and scared at the same time. Then when I began to test, I was nervous, earlier whenever I had delayed periods I never got a positive on the HPT..but again this was the last stick I had and it read "Pregnant"..My happiness knew no bounds..it was finally happening with me..

I only know one thing good things happen when you least expect. I believe the only reason i conceived was because I prayed hard to Lord Ganesh and he listened to me. What an irony, I conceived the same month I lost both my parents. A life was born the month two lives were taken. Perhaps, it is my parents blessing...

Re: is PCOD curable? got fear

i wouldnt say it is completely curable; but you can control it to a great extent.

I was diagonsed with PCOD 2 years ago; but my doctor had started treatment straight away. I was initially on metformin 500 mg (three times daily) and slowly the dosage was increased to 850 mg. I was strict with my diet (less sugar and carbs) and i used to workout an hour daily. Though weight loss was slow initially; but my system was regularising. My periods were more regular and slowly i started losing weight and even my doctor was happy with my results.

I got married in Sep 2011 and conceived the very next month. I was on metformin till i completed my 12 weeks and now i have stopped on my doc's advise...

    might start again after delivery

    Hi all,

I m posting this to bring hopes to all who are trying to have a baby. Here is my story.Trying for a baby for 10 years falling under a category of unexplained infertility.Had 3 laproscopy done in 2003,2007 and 2010.Couldnt find any reason for my infertility and in 2010 had two large fibroids removed.Tried 5 iuis and 2 fresh transfers and 5 frozen cycle in 2008 without any success.

After my lap in 2010 tried one more iui without success.Took a break for couple of months. Then in jan 2011 went to a new doctor in sydney for a general check up and he was pretty sure my problem was that there are some NK cells which prevents implantation.Did all tests again for me and my husband and did an endometrial biopsy. As he suspected i had mild positive NK cells. He was pretty confident this had been my problem all along and treating this should defenitely solve the issue. Also my husband had folic acid deficiency for which he was treated.

Finally in April 2011 had my ivf-pgd done.PGD results takes seven weeks. So in May 2011 had my frozen transfer and the only medicine suggested for the implantation was Clexane 40mg injection everyday from my transfer which i continued until 28 weeks and by gods grace my baby girl was born on 30/12/2011.

So my only issue was implantation problem which was rectified by an injection.Im sending this mail in midst of tiring schedule just b`cos it might be an eye opener for u guys and can look into this aspect also.

I take this opportunity to thank Vasu,Nahid,Chotu meetu and all others who were very supportive to me in this journey.

    take care

    Re: Spread the Positive Vibes.

    Hi all ..

I had been wanting to share my experience with all from such a long time.

7- 8 months after marriage I and my husband figured out that we were doing something which is not totally correct as I was not conceiving in-spite of lots of effort in terms of
    1. Maintaining good health and weight
    2. Having good diet
    3. Having Intercourse around the time of ovulation
    4. Having regular periods.

Seriously just couldn't understand what was going wrong. I would hear news of my friends or relatives getting pregnant and would desperately want to ask them what special thing did they do which I might have missed doing.

Started reading many blogs and articles then and got totally confused with many new and unheard terms.

Finally started consulting a doctor with my friends advise .. and I was suggested some scans and blood test.
The results showed hormonal imbalance and PCOD. I was totally upset. Dint know what to do.

I never had any pressure from my in laws they always supported me a lot.

    So started my treatment
I quit my job as I wanted to take my career in different role so wanted to take a break and study for 1 year then work. In the mean while continued going to the doctor

Initially the tablets did not work on me so I was suggested to do Laproscopy got it done and still no result the Cyst came back I was in the same old track in fact in a worst situation than before. Everyday I use to sit and think about the treatment and brood about it always.

Took lots of injections 2 cycles it also led my ovaries to hyperstimulaion which is a very bad condition and was put on OC to come back to track.

Every cycle I would be anxious to know the result the days after ovulation would seem like eternity to me.
I was exhausted of the medicines, injections and scans. I just wanted to drop it and live a happy life.

My in laws also suggested me to adopt a kid and be happy. But I kept going for the treatment and finaly my ovaries started responding. So my doctor suggested me IUI to increase the chances of conception.

My first IUI - I was so nervous the flash back of laproscopy and operation theater were haunting me.
They asked me to wait for 30 mins after the procedure and sent me home
no good news in that cycle .

My 2nd IUI - I was relaxed and had lots of hopes as I knew the procedure. I was asked to stay for 15 mins and then sent home. I was very sure I will not conceive as I got up pretty soon after the procedure.

Same happened and I ended up for my 3rd IUI - Generally the IUI is performed 1 hour after the sperm sample is collected but his time there were a lot of patiences and the clinic had ony 2 beds so my wait time was close to 1.30 mins after the sperm wash. and I was not at all asked to lay down after the procedure it was only 5 mins I was in the bed after the procedure and was asked to get up.
When I asked the nurse she said its ok it will work dont worry.
I was dam sure that this cycle would be waste and was so upset that had decided that I will never take up any consultation and take a break from this treatment.

This was almost a year from the date I started my treatment.

But to my surprise I missed my periods that cycle and had a positive pregnancy test.
The doctor asked me to wait for few more days and called me in for scan and
that was the best day of my life
"I saw the tiny heart beating as fast as possible"
Oh I was so happy I started crying and my pregnancy was beautiful with no problems at all.

I am writing this as a motivational note if you do want any details kindly revert back.

I wish You all All the best for your future and never give up trying.
    Baby dust to all.

Re: TTC progress & two weeks wait... Part-II

    Hi friends,
Some of u may know my ttc story but I am onceagain writing my story here.
After marriage everything was fine but i had very irregular periods.I ignored that and my hubby got a job in Dubai so we came to DUbai in 2006.After 4months I had the same problem went to the doctor she did a scan and diagnosed with pcod.I cried a lot and I was worried to take the medicine(metformin). After 6months we went back to India there we took all the harmone tests(by this time 1 1/2 yrs completed). There they gave all the medicines for 3months and told us to check after taking this medicines.I changed my food habits, regular walking everything I followed sincerely and got conceived after 4months.I was so happy but it lasted for only one day. That was ectopic pregnancy. But God saved me without any surgery or lap.Again 3months no treatment.after that I took clomid for 3cycles no result. Then again we checked the harmones and tube xray. There was imbalance in some harmones again but tube was ok.Again medicines now letrozol for 3cycles nothing happened. Then I went to India for vacation. We changed the doctor she gave clomid no result. Then I came to Dubai with lots of pain due to family problems(inlaws didnt believe me).Now again I went here to the gynec she gave medicines for 3months nothing was working. So she told me to go to India to do a lap.I came back to India within 6months (my inlaws didnt like this).I went to another doc this time. She did lap and in the next month she gave medicines combined with injections. This time I lost hope but my parents and sisters were motivating and always talk positively. To my surprise I didnt get periods for 30days.On 32nd day I tested I got positive. On 35th day we went to the doc and I saw 2spots in the scan yes twins were inside. We were really happy and for the entire delivery I was in my parents house.
My friends the social problems I faced apart from the medical issues are more.I didnt write that.
So dont loose ur hope my dear friends everything will be fine one day.

    Re: TTC Success stories

    Hi all,
I have been silent reader in the TTC forum as I felt guilty about my inability to conceive a child . But today I am happy that my TTC journey for 2 and half years has ended. Yes, I conceived last month (even with irregular periods due to PCOS) and my baby is 6 weeks old:cool2:. Thank God for Gift he has given me. I wanted to share about my TTC journey so that it would be useful for someone who is TTC.

    About me:
I used to have irregular periods from my school days. But I would get it atleast for once in two months. I didn’t bother much about that, since my Mom told me that she also had irregular periods before her marriage. She said that her periods started to regularize after marriage and she conceived 3 children naturally.

I got married in Aug2009 (was 23 yrs old). We planned not to start a family for 6 months atleast as myself and my hubby decided to have a good understanding of each other. My periods became regular (showed every 33 days) after marriage. I thought what my Mom said was true. We started trying in Dec2009, from that month periods became very irregular. I didn’t get period till end of Jan 2010 so I thought I was pregnant. :( But I wasn’t.

    Treatment in India:
I checked with Gynaec who ran tests and found that I have High TSH (6.8uIU/ml) and high prolactin (around 40ng/ml) and PCOS. I was asked to start with metformin 500mg 1per day and also tablets to control thyroid and prolactin. My periods showed up regularly in next 3 months but didn’t get pregnant. Next 3 months again had irregular periods so my Gynaec ran through all the tests, nothing new but same problems but levels have reduced a bit. She asked me to continue to same tablets.

We consulted another Gynaec for second opinion who said my weight gain was the problem. I found that I have gone from 58Kg (before marriage) to 68kg. So I started to concentrate on reducing my weight. Joined Gym and was able to bring down my weight to 62kg in 2-3 months. Meanwhile we continued TTC. We tried follicular study with HCG shots thrice, I ovulated twice but didn’t conceive in those cycles. We also tried with letrozole/ovafar for ovulation, we even tried IUI once but nothing helped.

    Treatment in USA:
My husband got Long term onsite to US so we moved to USA in Apr 2011, my period again became irregular. So I was very much worried as I was not aware of whom to consult. I got fed up and started going to gym regularly and started to change my lifestyle. Meanwhile one of my friends referred to infertility specialist. She increased my metformin dose from 500mg to 1500mg (3 times a day) and also my thyrox to 75mg/day. I started facing terrible diarrhea but I wanted to bare it as I was thinking something good would happen. My weight started to come down. I lost 9Kgs in 4 months.

    Miracle cycle:

Then we decided to try a cycle with clomid 100mg in Feb 2012. Infertility specialist did U/S on 24-Feb and said I had 2 follicles on left and 2 on right ovary. I was very happy. She asked us to come back on 28-Feb, but we found there was only 1 small follicle on left ovary and others vanished. I was advised to take 21 day progesterone test to see if I ovulated already. But they said I didn’t ovulate. Again lost hope. My hubby said we would go back to India:drowning and try with IVF at the end of this year, as our insurance in USA didn’t cover these treatments and we were not able to afford the cost.

I was advised to take tablets to get my periods if I didn’t get by my due date. But something in my inner heart told me to do a pregnancy test before taking tablet and got a POSITIVE HPT. I couldn’t believe my eyes I called my husband he said two lines are visible. We repeated the pregnancy test again and again for next 2-3 days. Finally my Gynaec ran a blood test and confirmed Pregnancy. Today we saw heart beat of my little one. MIRACLES do happen.:wow

There is always hope. God knows about pain and worry within us. He will surely shower his blessings someday. He blessed us when we expected least.
What I did to my lifestyle.
1.Started doing walking/jogging at least 2 days once for about 1 to 1.5kms
2.Had raw carrots, beets, lettuce salad etc. I totally changed my food habits. Reduced rice intake and switched to taking 2-3 chappatis for afternoon lunch. Stopped taking sugary foods intake. Took water with methi seeds soaked overnight in empty stomach.
    3. This cycle I was very happy as my friend came to visit us and spent time happily with them without worrying about TTC.

I would suggest that please take your life into control. Incorporate Change in your life style. You will definitely see the results. Do lots of research to know what’s wrong exactly. God has given us the power to correct. Don’t ever lose hope God is always there to help us… He wants to make our life better that is why he is delaying....

Atlast sorry for the very lengthy story... Lots and lots of sticky baby dust to everyone who is TTC...

    Hello ladies...

I was active for a while in IL and then disappeared coz i conceived in may. To brief about me, I have a son who is 2 yrs old and he has down syndrome... I was devasted :bowdown when my son was born and hated god for punishing me n my child so much.. later i decided to have one more child to make me feel better and also my downs son needs a sibling.

Thats when my battle started... I had been trying to conceive since 2010 and finally i succeeded only this april may.... I tried my BEST every month but always seeing a BFN.... finally i met dr roopa k.s and she put me on clomid 200 mg... and in my 2nd round i succeeded...

But what i felt really worked is, I used preseed along with clomid medication. During my 1st round of clomid i did not use preseed. But during my 2nd round i used preseed and also kept my legs up in air for 10 mins after sex ( advised my doc) . I really dont know what did the magic. whether it was the clomid or the preseed or the legs up.. or even the combination of all these together also could have worked.

Since i have a previous child with down syndrome, I had my amniocentesis scheduled yesterday... it just got over yesterday ... it was a bit painful but definitely very very managable...it is not at all scary.. i am awaiting my results... it takes upto three weeks for the result to come... I need all your prayers for a good result...

My advice to all ladies who are trying to conceive...

    1. Pls try preseed or conceive plus atleast once... I definitely feel it is worth the try... you can buy one for yourself in ebay.in.

    2. Please use a digital ovulation kit to track your ovulation. They are the perfect one's.. charting BBT will definitely not be right. I used Clearblue digital ovulation kit. (bought it from ebay ).

    3. if you are seeing an fertility specialist in bangalore dr. rupa is good... she does not fleece money and very patient.. infact i was hurrying her for an iui but she said lets try clomid for 3 or 4 cycles atleast.

    4. once you conceive, pls go to a GOOOOOD gynec.... my suggestion is Dr. Padmini Issac. She comes to cloud nine hospital, bangalore.

    5. This is for ALL BANGALOREANS ..... PLS HAVE ALL YOUR SCANS DONE ONLY IN SRINIVASA ULTRASOUND SCAN CENTRE located in shankarapuram. Dr Ramamurthy is the best in india... If you have to undergo any procedure like amnio, he is THE BEST in india... trust me on this... My amnio was just a 10 second process with him.. check out all other places, they will take a minimum of half an hour... and if he has done your scans then u can be rest assured that your baby is absolutely fine. I have seen ladies from chennai, pondicherry and other cities coming all the way to bangalore to get done scan or any procedures like amniocentesis from him.

But getting an appointment from him is very difficult. He scans only 40 ppl per day... and you need to get token before 7 a.m in the morning for that day's scan. i used to go at 5 a.m and get the token and wait till 9 a.m and see Dr ramamurthy... if you go after 6.30 or 7 for token its a waste coz ppl start the queue right from 4.30 or 5 a.m ....

It may seem really stupid to do all this but if u think u want the best do ought to do this....

If you guys have any doubt or information about these doctors i met, pls mail me at sivakumar.harini@gmail.com and i shall be glad to help u.

    Cheers

    harini

    Dear ILs,

I have been a slient reader of this forum from 2009. Never posted in the forum but was always reading every single update under 'Fertlity & Trying to Conceive'.

I thought I will share my story here especially for those who are under the category of unexplained infertility

I married late I was 30 when I got married (got married in 2008). We decided to TTC right from day one, first 6 months we kept trying and AF would arrive dot on time. After 6 months for the first time my AF delayed and we thought we made it. We waited for 15 days after my LMP and was planning to test the next day when my AF arrived. First shock and the start of our infertility journey. Went to a local gync she was an old lady with lot of exp. She just asked us to do ur basic tests and the results were normal. She just gave me folic acid tabs and asked us to try, 6 months passed no result then she decided to do HSG. I hardly knew what HSG was and was in for a rude shock as it pained like mad after the procedure. Result again normal. By this time we knew we were running out of time due to my age and for that reason we started consulting another local gync who was younger but very friendly and very good in her field. She thought our case was a cake walk as all our parameters were above normal. She put me on meds for ovulation and asked us to try naturally and the first cycle she told me hey you will conceive in ths cycle as everything was great. 7 cycles passed no results in between we did try one IUI it so painful which again didnot work. She advised us to move on as she felt with our parameters we should have conceived and since its not working we might have to take higher treatments which meant IVF. My hubby is a very cool guy he really did not care about it much he was only worried about the meds getting in to me and the time and effort we have to spend for this. We finally landed in a fertility center a well known one in Chennai. Our plan was to try IVF right away. We were re-tested and since all parameters were good doc advised us to do a diagnostic lap which we did and then she tried 3 medicated cycles and 3 IUIs all failed and I was not getting any younger. I still remember in the last IUI the doc told me you better get pregnant this time and I laughed my heart out thinking if it only was in my control. Finally we were discussing about IVF and she told us that incase of unexplained fertility IVF can be a solution. We had saved money for one IVF and one FET cycle thats all. Started the cycle with no hope because we know of few friends who had to do multiple rounds to see sucess. I took a break from work infact I worked until 2 days before my ER (believe me that kept me busy and I really didnt bother or worry much) I produced more than 20 eggs thankfully did not have OHSS but only 10 were fertilized. 2 were tranfered on day 5 (I think one was a good one and the other was just OK did not check on their grades) rest were frozen. 2WW wait was with mixed feeling but most of the time I did not bother as I thought this cycle will not work. This hospital you need to call and find out your results after you give you boold and urine for testing. I called and after repeated attempts they read out my result and they said congrats you are pregnant I was like what the hell how did it work in the first attempt. I asked my hubby to call them again and re-check just incase they read it wrong ;-). I was indeed pregnant :bowdown. My pregnancy was not a smooth one either I was getting ready to go for my first scan when I started bleeding (it was not spotting I was bleeding really bad) I was so shattered I thought it was all over infact on our way to hospital my hubby kept holding my hand every now and then and kept telling me lets not try again I am OK with just the two of us. Then went in for the scan and the scan doc told me awww you have one little bean sticking to you and made me hear its heartbeat I am generally a strong lady but that day I cried I was thanking god as I did not want to loose this baby. I had a subchronic hemotoma and hence I had bleeding on and off until my first trimster infact at one stage the hemotoma was around 50% and doc was worried as it was not a good sign. Well with all the ups and downs (I also had kidney stone an Urinary Track infection) and after numerous hospital stays I delivered a beautiful baby girl she is 11 months now.

I know this post is too long but wanted to share most of the details if it can be of any help or support. Believe me everybody will have their LOs some day or the other. For some it happens early without much struggles but for some of us it might take longer but each one of us will be blessed for sure. Just hang in there your time will come soon.

Some points which I thought will be of help
    1. Pls dont resign your job when you are in TTC natural, medicated or IUI cycles. The stress when at home will be worse than the rest you will miss. For IVF it will depend on how your situation is
    2. Dont change doctors too soon if you dont get results. Sometimes it takes time for the meds to work unless you are sure the doc is not good
    3. In hospital or outside dont be with the groups who share negative info about the treatments its their exp need not be true for you. In my case one group in the hospital who were getting treated with me was very sure that first time IVF will never work I stopped being with them after that
    4. Dont avoid func just because people/society will ask for good news. People/society love to hear your struggles just avoid them and enjoy the func. Once you are blessed they will still continue to haunt you on some other topic you cant run away every time ;-). I did not miss any function during my TTC after a point I found People/Society were tired of asking me the good news question ;-)))....
    5. Keep your mind occupied and take your head of TTC celebrate life suddenly one day you will be blessed. Dont let TTC rot you and your lovely married life.

My prayers are there with each one of you. Will continue reading this forum for good news from all.
