Hi machan , I hope you have the basic draft from your sewing class,
the notable thing while drafting is to adjust your shoulder length according to the neck depth.
For lower neck reduce the shoulder length.
For close neck don't reduce the shoulder length .
and facing of the front and back neck is also important.
Leave the ease 1 inch in the chest round only.

hi Nimiy,
wanted to ask doubts abt attaching sleeves..i learnt stitching chudi tops myself, but finding difficult in attaching sleeves, the finally attached sleeves always comes tighter that wat i wanted to ..wat could be wrong..Also i want to know how to stitch neck..i have a cut a neck pattern,..after that, how would i stitch it...your reply will be of great help..!!

I too noticed vani mams posts while i m browsing about the dresses for the last month, but I didn't try any of it, because I didn't touch my sewing machine after I got internet connection at my home. I want to try them too. Her contribution is great here "hats off to her".

Armhole height formula differs for different kind of dresses, You didn't specify the dress.

In my class when I was learning and in most of the books i referred, it is written as

the armhole height = ( 1/ 4 x Chest round) + 1 or -1 ( depends on dress type)

This formula is suitable for ready made dresses only, While practicing for any individuals it gave me negative results.

I use the following formulas now, It gave me good results.

* For loose wears = ( 1/ 6 x Chest round) + 1.5 inch or 2 inch
night dresses and inner wears (eg petticoat ) etc

* For children wears = ( 1/ 6 x Chest round) + 1 inch
like frock, shirts, kurtha etc

* For casual wears = ( 1/ 6 x Chest round) + 1/2 inch
like kameez

* For Tight fitting dresses =( 1/ 6 x Chest round) - 1/2 inch
(eg Indian saree blouse)

Note;
1. chest round - measure the round below your the under arm not the bust round.

2. Shoulder slope is not included here.

I hope my explanations are clear . Excuse me for not explaining with any diagram because Im zero in computer knowledge, just now started to learn by my experience.
If it is not clear feel free to inform me I try to explain.
If you have any suggestion or ideas let me know I 'will correct myself.
