From my experience this is wat I feel.

Costco is expensive if your are not buying in bulk.
Things you can buy, which is lot more cheaper compared to desi and other american stores.

    1. oil - E virgin comes around 7$ or 2 L for 9$
    2. Milk - 1.5$ but not organic tastes Okay.
    3. Bamati - 13$
    4. Blue ribbon - 25 lbs - 8$ - which I use as Idli rice.
    5. onion and tomatoes(5 lbs for 5$), beans and baby spinach, carrots.
    6. quinoa - 4 lbs - 10 $ cheaper compared to walmart.
    7. eggs are very cheap.

I have not bought atta from costco.
    Fruits
water melon very big one for 5$ come for more than a week, but storage is a pain.

chicken 3.5 lbs for 15$ organic

other than this you buy things like detergent, soap liquids, kitchen and bath tissues (comes around for 6 months ), snacks like biscuits, chocloate, cakes are cheaper but again you ll get in huge quantities.
    ---
furniture like dinning table and sofa - i think big lots is better on sale.
3 seater full plush sofa - 299 on sale
    recliner 180$

We spend a lot in Costco, average atleast $100 /week for all our needs.

We have been spending a lot since last year due to our purchases for relocating back.
We buy rice, milk, egg, vegetables, detergent (dishwasher, laundry) ... we buy everything I can say :)

We brought our mattresses, kids rooms furniture, dining tables, patio furniture... garden tools, fertilizers , clothes, kids toys, books, shoes, medicines, laptop, camera, TV etc...the quality from Costco is very good.

we were not members of costco for a long time and then we became members by the time we had kids. But I hate huggies diapers from costco. It's no good compared to pampers.

I likes dresses from costco. Sometimes I get dresses for my toddler for less than $10. My DH recently got a good cotton shirt for $13.

During india trip it's very easy to buy bulk quantities of choclates and nuts. I love their dates also, very tasty.

I hate buying their bakery items, it's impossible for any family to consume so much sugar and fat.

The biggest pain of buying in costco is the storage :(

one of my friends who recently had a baby is buying kirkland brand diapers.. and she says it is better than huggies or pampers.. i haven't tried it personally for my DD, but have heard from a few other friends.

i mostly used huggies and pampers for my DD from samsclub at that time

yeah i got dates too, and it is good
i found a pretty summer dress for my DD less than 9 bucks..

I too use blue ribbon LONG grain ( not par-boiled) for Idli.
Its very good. I have to say very very good.
    This is my measurement.

4 cups of Blue ribbon rice(long grain)
    1 cup urad dhal
handful of poha and 2 tbs of cooked rice.
I use Preeti mixer and not grinder.
    and rock salt for taste.

After grinding rice, urad dhal, and poha finally I grind the cooked rice with rock salt and mix it with the batter.

I dop a serving spoon in the batter and keep the oven lights on. This take 7 - 8 hrs for fermentation of the batter.

The idli's are very soft. Do give a try.
