I recently got a potential job discussion to relocate to Auckland..nothing has been finalized yet..but need some basic pointers to decide when the time comes 1) What is cost of living for a family of 3, husband, wife and a 3 year old kid 2) what is the cost of schooling 3) what is a decent salary for a 8 years exp IT guy in SAP technical field 4) what is the TAX 5) how is the weather in Auckland
Hi Troyscorpio, Good luck for your visit to Auckland Auckland's cost of living is fairly high. My husband and I (we are only a family of 2) spend about 800-900 NZD per Week. Housing prices etc depend on the area you want to live in but you can assume a 2 bedroom house in a good location to be rented for atleast 300 per week Private schools here are very expensive. Public schools are much cheaper, but are zoned. So be careful while selecting the location of your house, to ensure the child can go to a good public school. Weather in Auckland is very very fickle. It rains all through the year. Summers are around 20-25 degrees and winters can go as low as 5 degrees. It is extremely windy too. Tax is 10.5 cents of every dollar for income up to $14,000 • 17.5 cents of every dollar for income from $14,001 and $48,000 • 30 cents of every dollar for income from $48,001 to $70,000 • 33 cents of every dollar for income of $70,001 and over 10.5 cents of every dollar for income up to $14,000 • 17.5 cents of every dollar for income from $14,001 and $48,000 • 30 cents of every dollar for income from $48,001 to $70,000 • 33 cents of every dollar for income of $70,001 and over Salary depends on your position and the company. Be sure of your job, as it is not very easy to find one here. Average salary after tax would be 20-25 dollars per hour (40 hour week) Regards, PriVish
