This may seem like a silly question, but I really don't know what 'sabji' is. I have not used this term before. I have seen it mentioned a lot here and the receipes look good as well. There have been heaps of ideas of different sabji with roti and chappati. Is it supposed to be like curry / gravy or more like dry stirfry? Thanks in advance
Ha ha. Its a Hindi term for Vegetables. It can refer to either dry stir fried veggies, or veggies with a curry like texture. It could also refer to uncooked veggies you buy at vegetable vendors - so the meaning depends on context.
I was told long time back that we shouldn't say "sabji", but "sabzi". Sabzi is vegetables with gravy. Enjoy making and eating Sabzi. CL
Usually in North India it is subzi. South Indians normally disregard the spellings that are reflective of consonants modified from Middle Eastern invaders: z made from j or r made from d are two examples.
Thanks for your prompt replies and for your clarifications as well :thumbsup Will start trying the various recipes here. Have a good day everyone.
