Hi Vani...thanks a ton..yes i actually wanted to make similar to this...letme try and post the pic....i ll try to smock only one part rather than both and do some simple work on the top

I have done English Smocking. I would like to stitch a dress for my daughter with canadian smoking. I'm totally new to this type of smocking. What pattern should I use? I liked the flower petal one. Can I choose this one for the body part (long body frock). Will it be nice? What tips and suggestions will you give for a beginner? Thank you for your help.

Thank you all for the appreciation.If you want to do this type of smocking for dresses, first prepare a paper draft . you will come to know the dimension of the square or rectangle in to which the draft fits in.According to this you have to smock. I have already given the method of calculating the material needed for different types of design.place the draft on the smocked piece and tack all around the shape of the draft.if you use back stitch it will be still good. cot the shape according to the draft . smocking will be still intact.proceed as usual. Avoid darts.
