    Hi all,

We r married for 3.9yrs,I am 30 and my dh 31,we r on ttc since feb'10 but nothing happenend yet, still iam positive thinking "mera number bhi ayega" I discussed with my gp regarding the same, as iam less than 35yrs old he asked me to visit him after the completion of 12cycles ie 12months of trying and told me tht he will put me and my dh to several tests and based on tests results,he may proceed further.

Is anyone here, who conceived naturally at or after 30yrs,if not wht kind of treatment u took to conceive, pls share me ur experiences and concerns...

    Thanks,

    Baby dust to u all...

They say for normal couple it can take upto one year to conceive. You can wait to complete one year or you can tell your doctor that you have already tried for one year and go ahead with basic tests. Based on these results your doctor and you can decide next steps.

We started TTC at 30 and it took us 2 yrs and couple of treatments to succeed. So do not waste anymore time.

cutesmile09 - have you been to a ob/gyn? i'm not sure if you mean a 'regular adult people doctor' by gp or something else - but i would think a ob/gyn would be the one running tests and giving you guidance about ttc.

im 31 and when i went to my ob/gyn, she told me to try for 6 months - mind you, i do have some stuff going on in my system - but i would think in that case, she would say to try for 12 months before bugging her again.

    Hi cutesmile,

Don't worry. I have known many women who have fallen pregnant naturally after 30 but take a little longer than 1 year, may be 2 yrs or so. In the UK, they wait till you have tried for 12 cycles. Have you tried TTC every cycle so far ? When you go in Feb, they usually will first do a semen analysis for your husband and a basic check for you like progesterone level etc to see if you are ovulating / have cysts. Depending on where the problem is they will start the treatments. But remember, there could be plenty of waiting time for everything. e.g. for semen analysis wait times can be more than a month, visiting Ob / Gyn could take more than 3 months. On the positive side, these waiting times give you more opportunity to keep trying naturally. Stay relaxed and baby dust to you!

Thanx for sharing ur experience redgems, here in UK the medical system is different, every UK resident will be aligned to a General medical practitioner popularly knwn as GP,to be precise he will act as an family doctor to us,so if a person needs further tests/treatment my gp will refer me to the concerned specialist. For instance, even if i need to go for a blood test in NHS hospital,we need reference frm my GP,so unless and until my GP is convinced tht i have a serious medical condition which requires further investigation i may not be able to consult a obs/gyn,so as per the NHS rules a couple in UK need to consult GP only after trying for 12mths/12cycles naturally

    Hope this helps,

I know many women who were over 30 years when they got married and fell pregnant just like that. I even know a few women who who lost a baby and tried again when they were over 30 and got pregnant. (I fall into this sad category).

@cutesmile: Since you (and I) are already over 30, there is no point worrying about it as this is one irreversible fact. Keep reminding yourself of all the women you've known/heard about who conceived when they were over 30 years.

Try to take the age thing out of your mind and just give your best try by seeing the ob/gyn,follow ups and everything.

Think young and am sure you will get pregnant soon.

    Dear cutesmile09,
First of all wish you all the best for your TTC. I am also almost 30, married past 4 year but we seriously started trying only past 4mths. Last year i had been operated to remove a 7cms big firboid. so we had to wait before we start planning.
I do not wish to scare you but please first go and do a normal routine check up for both of you. In my case I never dreamt that would happen just last mth my husband was daignosed with azoospermia. All of my test are fine but his was bad. It's going to be an emotionally and financially process for us. so pls atleast get the basic check up done.
sorry didnt want to scare you. all the best.
