des plaines would be closer to your office. it also has good Indian community. rent might be around 1000$ a month (am not very sure about that) may be u can find something lesser. hope it helps.

Since you are going to stay for a short term work,
You can consider hotels like 'extended stay america' .As for as I know thats a bettrer option,because if you are stayig on monthly basis,it will come cheaper incusive of utilities than renting apartments on your own.They have kitchens in the rooms with fridge,microwave and some utensils.Some hotels provide regular shuttle service to nearby works and shopping malls.
