    Dear Shoba,
    Please go to
    http://www.indusladies.com/forums/18932-post80.html

If the maavilakku is for Devi, ilaneer, curd sadam, pal sadam are also offered. Veppilai is a must.Offer whatever you have cooked - generally my MIL makes mulakootal & pachadi that day.
Keep water in a sombu, decorate with chain & flowers like arali, hibiscus etc.
She used to keep aatick near the sombu - I don't know why.
    Love,
    C

    Dear mami,

In your reply to Aarthi in the other thread you had mentioned that the rusk dough needs to be proved. I tried searching thru net about proving method. How long it needs to be proved? How does one know that it is sufficient? Any tips on that?

    Thanks

    Radhi,
for all the interest you have in baking, you must browse this forum better!
Why search the net - it is all here.
PLEASE READ THROUGH ALL RECIPES IN

    http://www.indusladies.com/forums/997077-post9.html

Pleae learn how to do yeast cooking in those posts - you will learn what proving is. The dogh ferments & doubles in volume. Time depends on various factors. If you read all poss in SBS on bread, you will get a clear idea. That is why I post breads in SBS.
You are fee to ask me here, if you still have doubts.
    All the best in baking.
    Love,
    C

    Dear mami,

Thanks alot for guiding me properly. Though I refer sbs for many things many times, Somehow, for baking I was always refering to cook N Bake section only :bonk. This is a treasure which you have directed me to look at. I would surely read fully and then proceed for rusk making. I have active dry yeast brought by my BIL from US. Only thing bread mould was not available whereever I asked including Poppat Jamal. So I am thinking of making rusk in the small rectangular cake mould, so that I may get somewhat similar to conventional rusk shape.

    Thanks once again
