Re: No more Sona Masoori Rice from India????

The grocer where we go usually told the same thing that the prices for most of the groceries, starting from mustards, will shoot up. The reason he gave was that there are some malls coming up in India (like Walmart or maybe Walmart itself) which are buying the groceries. Therefore the shortage of groceries here in USA. He told us this about 15 days ago and we thought he was just fooling around. But now it seems true, after all. I have to go to the Indian grocery stores tomorrow and find out what has happened to the prices and also the stock. I feel that it would be beter to try out other products that we get in Costco or Sam's Club. Anyway thanks everyone for suggestions.

    Hi Anu,

We have been buying uncooked Tortillas from Costco for a few years now, just for a change. Whenever there is no time to make rotis, we have these. They are very soft like like our Rumali Rotis.

But, these days many costcos don't carry it around orange county. Even in LA county, we tried a few Costcos but they said that they stopped selling it.

As you also live in LA, can you please suggest where these are still available. It will be a big help.

    Thanks in advance,
    Geetha

    Hi, Geeta,

You can get tortillas in Ralph grocery stores. I tried once. Just reheat
and you can eat. You can also try.

Thank you for keeping us informed about the "ban lifting" news. It is great to hear that. However I have not gone to the Indian stores to check the prices. Anyway Thank you once again.

    Dear vaishnavilakshmi,

Yesterday I went to the Indian stores and the prices for most of the items were high. I told him about the ban lifting and the shop owner said, though they have lifted the ban, the dealer here is selling the products at a higher price itseems. So we will have to wait and see till how long this will go on. Anyway keep us posted about the prices there in your place.

    Amitha
