I have not brought idly plates from India and Iam in need of that.My pressure cooker is very small and I cannot have idly plates inside.Hence Iam planning to buy an idly cooker.

Any ideas on where to buy here, brand name and also the approximate cost?

Anyone got idly cooker from india?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I bought my idli plates from an Indian stores for $20 (non-stick). But for the cooker, I use a very big vessle with a glass lid that I bought here. This vessel is very big which can hold upto 7 to 8 plates. I think you can use any vessel with a lid on top. My idlis turn out to be just perfect. I hope this information helps.

    Regards,
    Shanti.

since you are in chicago ,the best place to hunt is Devon Ave,you can check at different shops and many have different types of them, and you can always bargain for a better price.

    Hi,

Check this thread, hopw you might find it helpful in some way:

    http://www.indusladies.com/forums/g...hopping-wet-grinder-recommended-websites.html

I even didn't get Idly cooker, i got only plates. I use to keep in pressure cooker without whistle mostly, or some times in big vessel with glasslid cover(bought here).

If i need onlyone plate, i keep very less water & place one idly plate in kadai and cover with lid over it(it cooks very fast this way).
