Rasam oh so yummy

    Dear Viji..i also love Rasam so much...i donot eat curds so without rasam my food never used to be complete..i just love it..i use to love the kind of Rasam that my mom makes

    Now iam married and while making rasam iam making use of powders avaiable with me, I want to make Rasam powder and keep it always, can u please share the ingredients and the correct quantities to make the Rasam powder

    I think not all add sugar to rasam ....I think maybe you are following a kannadiga recipe. I know they add sugar to almost all their stuff. Its just for getting all kinds of taste to it .If you like it , continue. Even if you dont add, I think it still would be good . :thumbsup

    Deepthi,
    I shall give the rasam powder , I make at home .This was taught by my aunt who makes yummy-yum rasams.

    thoor dhal - 1/2 c
    dhaniiya- 1/3c
    jeeragam- 2-3tsp
    pepper- 2-3tsps
    dry red chillies- 6-8(i add crushed chillies , so use about 3-4tsps)
    asafoetida- little
    curry leaves dried - a small handful
    garlic dried- 6-8

    if u get garlic, curry leaves dried , well & good if not dry roast all these in a pan. then cool it and grind it in mixie. & then add a tsp or two to your rasam. It would taste & smell really good.
