Do not worry, just wait till 24 months, his speech learning ability will soar into sky. Kids start repeating each and every word we say after 2 years. I too was worried the same way you were. Now my son amazes me with his talk. I would be wondering where does he learn all such words. 1. Download nursery rhymes from internet and keep playing 2. Take him to local library or toddlers group once a week or something to interact with kids 3. Last best remedy is letting them watch TV - ofcourse make it controlled one. Else they become creatures of TV habit. Channels like Playdisney I personally think is good
This is the mistake not with the kid but with u ur over expectation. I too did the same mistake but now my child is 27 mnths she is talking very good, childrens are unique some may speak earlier but the words will not be so clear but if the children speaks bit late their pronunciation is better. I too felt like this and done many things to enhance her but nothing works then i learnt that she is grasping the words fully and only after getting to know the full word she will use it,some other childrens just watch the parents speech and try to say something it doesnt matter what they mean . so dont feel definetly ur child will speak but u just put some c.d's of cartoon etc and sit along with him and explain it ,this makes him easier to learn the speech .
my son remembers watever v say,i show his body parts in both mine & my DH's language.Anythg v teach he remebers it & wen asked he just SHOWS /REFERS BY HAND .but he isn't talking. wen v need to start worry abt his not talking. coming to Heridity my mom says i have staterd spekaing very soon by 1 yr itself clear few words.i don't know abt my DH.my MIL is a working lady so does't remeber that well.
upto wat age is it fine that they donot hav to spekaclear wordes,i mean fromwat age v need to worry that he isn't talking.
hi i just want to tell, that dont speak with him in 2 languages. First let him understand one language very well, then start teaching other language. Probably he is getting confused, i heard this case with one my friend, the doc told them that speak one language at home and with kid also. Rest like all other said, boys talks late and he will soon
hi, as long as he now understands simple instructions and comprehends fine, you dont have to worry yet. he is afterall 18 months old; not all 18m kids speak well. i see you already talk to him non-stop. if you aren't yet, pls do so. when you do some work carrying him or with him around, keep on narrating what you are doing..whether or not he is looking at you. you could sometimes be tired of talking, but you need to. also when is trying to communicate something, dont give in the minute you understand what he wants. say he wants water, and he points to the water bottle, dont give it to him immediately. instead pretend not to understand and keep asking him for what he wants until he communicates verbally. this might not be a success so easily until the child can speak. but do keep trying. he would soon annoy you non-stop.. some patience mummy !
HI harun.. My niece was 1 year old when she started talking. My son is two now. He still doesn't talk, he mumbbles alot though. He only says mommy, dudu(milk) and water. He does understand everything and know lots of things like abc, numbers, recognize body parts. But he just not ready to talk. I am doing the same thing teaching him our mother tongue and english. Yes...do talk to him alot and tv also helps. We don't have atmosphere like India where there are plenty of kids in neighbourhood. If you can find playdates ..kids who are already speaking ..i heard kids copies other kids faster. So..don't worry..he is absolutly doing fine. TC.
My dd is almost 2 but she speaks v few words like mommy, papa and baby.Thats all.Even i am concerned about her speech. She understands all we speak and reacts with actions but not words.I dont think we can generalize that girls speak fast.My friends son is 1 month younger than my dd but he speaks so well even small sentences. Its is just the kids JMO. Pls do share what you are doing to improve their speech. suji
