    Hi Friends,

I am 6 month pregnant and i love spicy & junk food a lot. But my mother-in-law restrict me to eat such things she says it is not safe for baby.

Is it true that by eating ojunk food and spicy food once a while will effect my baby???

    Regards

It is always better to avoid oily foods, spicy foods and junk foods..coz they tend to result in BP and also unnecessary weight gain for mother and kid..a balanced and healthy weight gain is alone recommended. Moreover the digestion isnt that normal as pre-prenancy, so these foods result in heart burn and tummy ache.

Shouldn't be a problem @ all..infact it helps in strengthening our pelvic bones :thumbsup

anything within limits will not cause a problem krithi..so enjoy the food in a balanced manner :hiya

Re: soya chunks are safe during pregnancy??

    Hi vivbass
Congrats on your pregnancy. I thinks Soya chunks are safe to eat during pregnancy and has no side effects. I had it during my first pregnancy and had no negative effects from it. But like everyone said, do eat in moderation. I dont think it would be good to eat everyday .. Maybe a couple of times a week is better . Moreover I find it is a little heavy on the stomach and can cause gas or digestion problems if eaten too much at a time. For proteins you can also eat a variety of other foods like egg, rajma , cheese (not soft ones) , whole wheat bread, lima beans etc .

    Hi Friends,

What about sweet potatoes? (In Tamil Sakarai Vazhi Kilangu)

Could we take during pregnancy? I had read in a book earlier (Pregnancy Special - Sneghithi) that it is very good during pregnancy and especially in the last months and will favour Normal delivery. I am taking this nowadays (Weekly once):hide:

Today when I browse through the net, I found one article which states that Sweet potatoes should be avoided since it may be linked to Birth defects, Miscarriage, etc., This makes me Shocked

Could you please shed some light on this?
