    Hi,

My DD has been suffering from constipation ever since she started her solids. I have tried everything - fruit juices, raisins, boiled raisin water, bananas, etc.. but of no use. The condition does not seem to be getting better either.

I believe I used to have this problem as an infant.

My pedi has prescribed medicines like Evict. Another paed is asking me to go to a pediatric surgeon to see if her bowels are fine. Should I go for another opinion.

Also, my DD insists on standing when passing her stools (have posted another thread for this).

    Regards,
    P

Have you tried Prune juice, broccoli and green peas? These are the only things that works when my DS gets constipated,

I have tried raisin juice (not prunes). What is it about Broccoli and peas? Do I have to cook some combination with it? Or is it ok if she includes them in her diet daily?

Poornima, Not sure which raisin you have tried, there is one big raisin, with seeds. Soak them overnight, morning remove seeds, squeeze them, give the water to Vinu. If she prefers, she can eat the pulp too.

Poornima, are you trying to potty train her now? This standing sounds like she is trying to bear down on her bowels to move it out. What could help is doing a suppository once in a while and adding all the fibre the IL moms are suggesting. When she is constipated, the fibre will not help immediately.
With K, the constipation happened when he is not drinking enough water, just plain water.
K was somewhat constipated time and again till he learned to control his potty. What is Evict? A laxative? I would only do a suppository once in a while and get her to be regular through other means. HTH
