That may be too early considering that newly weds have kids in the first few years. Arranged marriages imo take a lot longer for everyone to find their comfort zones.

Seaparation is easier in the west and the spouses can live comfortably and even the children don't have any thing to feel odd about their own family. But in India it's a different game esp in the small cities/towns. An ex having visitation rights is such a night mare for the lady considering all the nosy people. She can forget about ever getting married again. And an ex can use those visitation opportunities to harass/humiliate/taunt/frustrate her.

But one thing is true, every one has a God given right to pursue happiness and when a marriage becomes a unlivable people should walk out. The kids will at least learn a good lesson that they should not use their own life as collateral for someone else's happiness. I feel sorry for the little girls who see their moms taking unbearable life just to keep their marriage. I think the mom is setting a poor example for the young girl(s) (and sons also!)

You are so right. In west esp in US its a norm. you will see almost every other guy is divorced, in out apartment complext there are dozens single moms living probably. kids know by looking at others oh he also has a step father, mother or broken family. Its not just me. But in India its not the case. That can have effect on kids and for a woman its very tough as she cannot integrate with her parents ,brothers completely as otherwise the husband can...

What good news?? I didn't find any! The poor kids are going to be sent off to an aunt in India and hence be without either parent for the foreseeable future. Aren't the two kids paying the biggest price in the whole sordid saga?

BTW, can anyone find a link to the video of court proceedings? I sure would love to see what this Psycho mom looks like.

Devi Silvia and her husband left the courthouse together on Monday.

The guy is standing by her.. wow !

MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A woman who prosecutors said admitted to trying to drown her toddler in the Hudson River to spite her husband went home to him Monday, free for the first time since her May arrest.
Devi Silvia, 34, who was charged with the attempted murder of her 19-month-old daughter Jessica, was released on a $10,000 bail on Monday and was headed to the couple's Upper West Side apartment after posting the bond.
The mother, who has been at Elmhurst Hospital for months, said she was suffering from bipolar disorder when she threw her baby into the freezing water and then jumped in after her. She and her hypothermia-stricken child were rescued shortly afterward.
The judge said that he was releasing her on the condition that she attend regular outpatient psychiatric treatment.
Neither Silvia nor her husband, Amirtharig Prithiviraj, would comment as they left the courthouse Monday afternoon.
Silvia's attorney, Seema Iyer, said she's extremely remorseful but very lucky that she and her child survived.
She misses her two children and shed tears in court several times at the though the thought of them, Iyer said.
"Every time the judge mentions the kids she just loses it."
