    hi,
many of my elders told me while i'm pregnant that ghee is more important for baby's brain development. i also gone thru an article once in ammas.com. i recomend you also take ghee along with all the above mentioned by other members.

Re: Foods to avoid during pregnancy!

For some reason excessive Vitamin A is considered harmful to the growing foetus especially in the first trimester. Papaya and pineapple are rich sources of this vitamin and hence probably the doctor says its best to avoid it. However, I have also read that the Vitamin A present in animal food is the form which is harmful and the beta carotene form of Vitamin A present in plant food, can be consumed. However, better to avoid it just to be on the safe side.

    Foods for brain development

    Hi Sandhya,

As this is my first interaction with you, congratulations on your pregnancy. Have a safe delivery and a healthy baby. You had mentioned in your post that you cannot eat walnuts everyday.

Try taking walnut milkshake instead. As I am not a fan of milk, I beat together dates, raisins and walnuts together with a cup of milk and mix a spoon of honey and drink it for breakfast every morning. That way I also get my calcium through the milk plus the iron from dates and raisins and the walnuts will give omega 3 fatty. It also tastes heavenly. Try this dry fruit milk shake if you can't eat the walnuts raw. Is it OK to have honey during pregnancy??

    Cheers,
    Geetha Satish.

    Re: foods for brain development

    Hi,
My daughter is 13 months old. When I was pregnant I used to
take a handful of walnuts in the early morning. It helped in the
brain development of the child. I can see it too. She is very
intelligent and active. You can also try.
But be careful with ghee. Ghee will give weight gain at the
third trimester. Use your discretion on watching your weight
gain and compare with the charts.
    Take care.
