How did you come to know about your DH's match....??

Mine is a love marraige & have been married now for 10 years. I joined my dhs company here in US 12 years ago........everyone was desis. I was working with all desis first time & was very uncomfortable siince they were all cracking jokes, making fun & just having overall good time.

A coworker(desi) became friendly & he said I know a telugu guy who is also working here & will suit ur personality & I laughed it off since I wasnt really looking to get hooked up.
since all my coworkers had just come to US newly & me I had been here for a few years already & owned car etc they all wanted me to drive them from NJ(where we workd) to boston for a weekend trip. dh also already been living here for a few years already..........so me & dh we offered to drive them to boston in one minivan. we both were in front seats talking nineteen to a dozen mostly about our hometown & we talk same language(telugu).......& I was pleasantly surprised I like him. so 2 whole days we both kept yapping about ourself.
we kept meeting as a group after work & in general wud hang outtill late nite.
later on after a few months I had to relocate to charlotte for a 6 month project with a client. dh panicked & had arranged for 4 of us(dh, me, our mutual friend & his gf) to drive upto atlantic city for night of fun & gambling.
there at trump taj mahal on pretence of playing roulete he took me seperatly to a table & proposed to me. I asked him what was the logic to bring me to a casino to ask my hand in marraige & he said he was taking a chance since I cud say yes or no.........what better place to win or lose.....
I said yes.
we went back to india & got married in a grand way with blessings of parents & family & by gods grace we are blessed with 2 sons.touchwood & do need all ur prayers to make this to 20 year anniversary mark

Mine is also an arranged marriage, but it is very lengthy so be ready to loose some of your time here and I applogise for it.
One of my relative went to see my DH sister(younger) for there son , but they did't like her ,they gave information to my Dad about my DH (was in US) ,my Dad contacted IL's , they saw me and in reply they told my Dad that they want first daughter to get married ,so they told my Dad to see alliance for there daughter from our side if any one are there.
It sounded like they did't like me.
One of our far relative had come to see a girl for there son in our town so they have to visit our house that time my dad told about my DH sister. they did't like the girl from our place , so they went next to see my DH sister and they liked her and got finialised and got married .
my parents attended the marriage and asked my IL's what they have come up , they said if myDH likes then we will proceed ,my parents invited IL's to some to our place with my DH , but they did't show up
MyDH came from US to attend there sister marriage and they started looking alliances and they have to come to the city which is just 45 minutes to my place, they saw the girl did't like her and they had reserved the train ticket for night and so they have whole day to spend then my DH got idea to come to our place as it is close by .
So they thought just to stop by and take the train from our place.
They came to our house unexpectedly had a lunch ,evening snack & dinner and left .
Next day my DH gave a call and it proceded to marriage.
We got engaged in a month and after 3 months got married and now it is 6 yrs passed blessed with a son & daughter (4&3).

how many of your got into arranged marriage without meeting the groom in person..
any surprises you had...
did you had any issues..what made you go for that..
one iof my friend is in that situation..so want to know..

 

Ours was a love marriage. We both met on Orkut 4 years back. I was a Grad student at a University here and he was finishing up his PhD at a University on the west coast. I joined a forum for a city where I was born and raised in india and he was the one who started the forum. We just got talking randomly. He had an absurd profile name and I did not ever ask him for his name:rotflAfter 3 months I did ask him his name and discovered that we lived in the same city in India, were neighbors, travelled in the same train for college and 50 common friends between the both of us. Yet we never ever remembered meeting each other.

We also discovered that we had met each other briefly at a conference in India 8 years back(where they were giving us a seminar on GRE etc).

Eventually, after 6 months of being acquainted he asks me for my # and the first conversation we had lasted for 7 hours:bowdown I started talking at midnight my time and finished talking at 7 AM:rotfl

Later after few months of talking everyay, I just told him that I liked him and he confessed too. Though, I was reluctant to commit even before meeting him but he was certain:hide:. He even told him mom that he liked me at that time.

We met for the first time in April 2006 and we have been together since:thumbsup

One thing is sure, if I wouldnt have told him abot my liking we would not have been together. Coz he certianly would not have said on his own!

 

My cousin is getting married next week and its the same story! Came for another girl, she is still in school, someone my cousin is available and voila 2 days later engagement and in a week they get married!! And I swear, the way she tells me about him, I think they have known each other for years!! :thumbsup

Well mine is an arranged marriage . We met through a match fixing agency. I never really enjoyed the process of trying to find a match in this manner and felt it was so boring and at a point i thought i didnt want to do it anymore . Because i always felt that i cant marry someone i dont know and love.

but when i met my spouse that time it changed for me and it was first time that i was interested in someone and felt comfortable with him in talking and meeting.so it clicked and i had no confusion or doubts in my mind about him eventhough i had met him only couple of times .
sometimes in life we just have to follow our instincts and listen to our heart . So i just went with the flow and now i am happily married since 10 years .

hmm ours was love story my childhood hero is my hubby now..... when i was 7 yrs old i moved to colony where my hubby was living.. he was 13 yrs old... i started mingling with all the kids there.. my hubby always had sep big boys gang LOL.. he likes me lot since i was small in that colony,..he said i used to look cute those days with ppink skirt... when i was studying 7th std i didnt know what is love.. but i liked him lot... i always used to see him play cricket or shuttle.. i love the way he walks.. he will be so stylish.. when i was 9 th std i came to know meaning of love and i then i decided i think i love him,, does he love me. but i waas scared to ask so asusual friendly talks and chats .. he went to college and he never treated me as big girl.. for him i m always small girl.. i came to know that he fell in love withs omeone and they are gonna get married.. then i was busy with my college days and he was busy with career.. we used to talk once in while in phone that too as childhood friends.. then he came to US.. i dont know may be its destiny i too came to US via my compnay and we chatted in FB and shared our phone numbers. i was busy with my work so i dint get chance to talk with him.. one fine day he called me wen i was shopping .. i was surprised and that childhood crush still hung on me a bit.. i felt happy to talk with him.. then again no calls for few months as i was really busy with my prjs and missing my mom and dad badly.. then he called and asked i m comin to meet one of cousin in ur city.. are u willing join so that we can also meet.. i was bored with work prj .. so i thought its good idea to do and went to meet him with my friend.. spent 4 days.. he was so matured .. took care of me very well.. ah i m still here my crush on him came out .. after comin back i started chatting with him daily.. then skype.. then one fine day i asked areu still in lvoe with so so.. he said no .. how u do know these small girl notdonesmiley.. then he asked me r u in love with some person.. i said yes and i love a person from 10 yrs but he doesnt even look at me..and gave hint that it was him... he was shocked and but prj work called me also i was feeling butterfiles in my stomach so i just cut the phone... next day morning he called me and said when can we have our marriage.. then we lived happily thereafter (1.5 yrs )... since we know very well both families accepted though its intercaste marriage... now we have naughty 9 mnth old..

really sorry for long story... i felt happy to think abt those days again and he is always my sweetest smartu...
