Dear Music Lovers


I wanted to start this thread as our offerings to the LORD and also to the Great Saint Poet - Padakavita Pitaamah - Thallapakka Annamayya.
Those who know Annamayya keertanalu, please post the lyrics of one keertana each and lets be successful in making a garland of Annamayya keertanalu as our offerings to the LORD.

Meaning
In simple words the essence of this melodious keertana is the omnipotence of Lord Hari / Vishnu / Achyuta.
HE is incarnated in all devatas / gods, in HIM is the entire universe and HIS name itself is all the mantras / chantings.
HIS actions are miraculous, HIM praises all the four vedas and HE is the soul of the entire universe
HE is the starting and the end, He is the destroyer of the evil (asuras / raakshasas) and HE is on the Venkatadri Hill (Tirumala)
Surrender O mind to Achyuta / Vishnu / Hari.

The story related in this charanam goes like this:
Anantallvar, a devotee of Lord Venkateswara, intends to construct a pushkarini (pond) so as to use the water for the flowering plants in his pushpa vanam (flower garden) and use the flowers for Swaamivaari Pushpa kainkaryam (serviing the Lord with flowers).
He starts digging and his wife takes the dug out soil to drop it at a distant place. She finds it very difficult as she is in an advanced stage of pregnancy at that time.
Anantallvar asks his wife to do this labourious work because his only intention is to gain 100% punyam. The merciful Lord comes down as a small 10 -11 yrs old boy to help HIS devotees. This Boy requests Anantallvar to give him some work and He is ready to serve free of charge (vetti - literal meaning of vetti being different).
When the Allvar refuses to appoint him for the work in order to gain full punyam the Boy without the knowledge of the Allvar helps his pregnant wife by Himself carrying the dug out soil and dropping it at a distant place. Anantallvar when comes to know about this, in a fit of anger he tries to throw the digging rod on the Boy who escapes and then runs away. The Allvar cheases the Boy with the rod in his hand. When the Boy and Allvar reach one of the pedda maada veedhulu (one of the four wide roads on the four sides of the main temple at Tirumala), the Allvar throws the rod on the Boy which hits His chin and then suddenly the Boy disappears.
In the evening when the Allvar goes to the temple for pushpa kainkaryam, to his astonishment he sees the bleeding chin of the Lord and the priests thus saying that the Lord himself knows to which devotee's rescue He has gone today. Now Anantallvar recollects everything and prostrates himself before the Lord and begs for His pardon. He then smears sandalwood paste on the Lord's chin to stop the bleeding. Miraculously the bleeding stops.

Even today one can see the rod that was thrown by the Allvar on the Lord, hung on one of the main doors of the temple, I think after the vendi vaakili (silver door / gate). Sorry friends don't remember the exact place.

This shows how the Lord comes in any form to help His devotees.

Meaning
In short the keertana describes the richness / greatness of the Tirumala hill (konda)
This is the mountain / hill where the Vedas are in the form of rocks (silas), the essence of vedas flowing here as streams and this is the hill where the Lord of Sreedevi (Lord Vishnu) resides.
All the devas are moving here as animals and our ancient sages are standing here as trees on this long hill of Anjanandri
The caves in this hill of Sri Venkata are full of natural wealth and the rich natural resources add beauty to this hill of Lakshmikant (Lord Vishnu)
