Dear ILites

I’m immensely pleased to share with you the success of the classical dance ballet “Ninditha Naayika Kaikeyi – The Defamed Heroine”. This show was a roaring success in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" />Dubai when we first staged it in Jan 2008. We had the honour of presenting the same again, this time in Abu Dhabi as part of the Annual Day Celebrations of Tamil Ladies Circle. This ballet was choreographed by Mrs. Meera Srikanth (an IL member) in honour of her uncle Late Shri. R. S. Manohar, who was a ‘dhruva star’ of the tamil drama industry.

The ballet was based on the epic Ramayana, focusing mainly on Kaikeyi’s life. The aim was to make the audience understand the fact that Kaikeyi was actually a very positive and strong character, and it was circumstances that made her behave in the way the that she did. The final scene depicting Rama’s coronation procession, along the aisle of the auditorium leading all the way upto the main stage, was absolutely stunning and was applauded with a standing ovation from the 1000-odd audience.

I wanted to share my joy with all of you on IL. But I felt like ‘Prem Chopra’ or ‘Nambiar’, as there were only two evil characters (Sambarasuran & Manthara a.k.a. Kooni) in the whole drama, and both were played by me!!!:biggrin2:

Please see the link below for photographs and a review of the show.

We all have a share in the success of the show. Super choreography and direction from you, we just executed what we were taught. Hope to stage this and many other dance dramas with you in the future.

Dear Swetha,
That was really a very novel and a different concept. In fact I have been telling all people that the dance medium of our culture has not caught up with the times. You have taken a different character and have used a really different approach.
I had the fortune of going through all the pictures. Stunning is what I can say.
Accept my hearty congratulations, Swetha. It's a great work. Wish more laurels should come your way.
love,
sridhar uncle

Dear Sridhar Uncle

Thank you so much! For the concept, we have to thank Mrs. Meera Srikanth. It was her brainchild. Her choreography made the show what it was.
Hope to do many more such shows in the future ... and if we stage it in India, you must join us, ok?:thumbsup

Love
SWETHA
