    Re: black hair

    Dear Uma,
I forgot the brand I used to apply. This time when I went to India, I got all the powders like Brahmi, Amla, Shikai, Rita (kunkudu kai), Methi, indigo etc and of course lots of henna. I am using only these powders. I bought all these powders from my native place in Andhra. So I forgot what brand I used to use till now. I think it is Ruksana or Mumtaz. It is green color box with a lady with Hennaed hands. :)

Next time, when i go to the Indian stores, i will get the name for you. Till this summer i was using this store bought one and I loved it. So i will give yu the name and if you get it, you can use it.

    Regards,
    Shanti.

    Re: black hair

    Uma,
Finally today I went to the Indian store just to check up the brand of Henna I used to apply before. It is either Afsana or Mumtaz. Both were good and I would highly recommend either one. I used to just mix with Tea decotion the previous night and next day just add some yogurt and apply to my hair. The colour used to be the same dark red shade which i get with my Indian Henna now.

Let me know if you need any more details.

    Regards,
    Shanti.

    Re: black hair

    Uma,
No need to thank me at all. We are all here to help each other and share our experiences. I do the same as you said, but I do nto mix any other powder in it. After i apply henna, may be for my next shampoo, I put amla and shika or ritha together. But for Henna I just mix previous night with decotion in an iron vessel. My sister in India does not even use iron vessel and still gets rich colour. sh e says it gives her itching if she mixes in iron vessel.

Also, today, i googled indigo powder and they are expensive here. I bought mine for 50 Rs for 50 grams. I got a packet that is similar to the one showed in this website. This is from Dr. Urjita Jain.
Indigo Powder Indigoferra Tinctoria Hair Color Hair USA - eBay (item 160306220176 end time Nov-17-09 12:29:38 PST)

The chepest one i found was in the following site. You can check it out.
Henna Black Powder: Indigo (Indigofera tinctoria; Qing Dai) 1 lb - $8.39 : KT Botanicals, Ethnobotanicals, Extracts, Live Plants, Seeds, Herbal Medicines, Nootropics, Essential Oils, Books and More!#

I do not know anything about the authenticity of these sites. I just googled them. I hope this helps.

    regards,
    Shanti.

    Re: black hair

    Hi,

I had made an indigo powder and henna mixture for my mom . But the colour of the hair became orange . Can u give the complete procedure like for example whether to mix it with water, tea and in which vessel . I had mixed it in tea and used an iron vessel.

Besides, that I think Urjita Jain's indigo powder is not good:rant

    regards,
    Shravanicool

    Re: black hair

    Dear Soniya Jaraika,

I would like to tell you that BLACK ROSE Kali Mehendi is not good for hair. My parents have been using it for more than ten years and it has resulted in immense hair fall. My mother's hair has been reduced to almost half.

    Be careful,
    cutejen
