    Hello,

I love sweets and I love making gulab jamuns and other bangoli sweets like Rosogulla etc. The thing is whenever i make these dishes..a lot of sugar was wasted in preparing sugar syrup..and i had to throw the syrup which was left over.

I started using this syrup in making tea...insted of putting sugar while making tea..i started putting left over sugar syrup..:2thumbsup:

    pls share ur tips

    hi Nains,

nice thread. here are my tips--
To make crispy potato or banana chips, soak them in turmeric added water before frying or sprinkle salt on them while frying.
For soft sev gathiya take water and oil in a plate and mix well. Then mix the dough of sev vigorously into it.
To make banana wafers white & crispy, soak them in alum water & then fry them.
While making sakkarpara, knead its dough with the rice water (rice stock) to make it soft & tasty.
While using saffron in any spicy recipe, dissolve it in lemon juice or curd

    bye

while making bajji, when u r done with the dough & little is remaining & this is not enough for making more bajji. what will u do at this time is just cut the vegitable into small pieces with what u r making bajji & add these in the remaining dough & sprinkle little water in it & mix well & make thool bajji. ur dough is not wasted & ur cutted vegi is also is not wasted. esp with banana & potato u cant keep them in the fridge or outside after cutting. it'll become black on the surface.

    Hi ,

here is one tip to use the sugar syrup.

Use the left over sugar syrup ( after preparing gulob jamun) and prepare gulob jamun. this is a very easy and tasty dish and you can prepare this with in mins. Try this and enjoy.

    1 cup sugar syrup
    10 slices of bread
    ghee or oil to fry

    Method:

cut bread into 3 inches length strips.
Fry them in the ghee or oil.
In another pan heat left over sugar syrup with some water.
Bring it to a boil and switch off.
Now put the fried bread in that and serve hot.
Your bread gulab jamun is ready.[IMG]

I just use the sugar syrup in sooji halwa instead of plain water/milk. Only thing is you have to reduce the amount of sugar in the end as the syrup is already sweet.
