    Hi All,
    My name is Krish.
I am moving to london in late Aug with my husband who got admission into London business school and my 3 yr old daughter.

His school is located near regent park area of london.

Hence we are looking for accomadation and school for my kid which should be in the same tube area.

I heard that Regent park area is the heart of London and accomaqdation is expensive there. Can anybody suggest me where all the international especially Indian students with family live?
And also how to get the admission into the schoolfor my kid?

I also heard that dependent spouse can also work there? What kind of jobs are easily available there?I have an engineering degree and worked few months as a programmer. Now I am a homemaker for almost 6 yers.I s it possible for me to work with kid? HOW ARE THE day cares there ?ARE they ecpensive or reasonable?

I sincerely appreciate your time in anwsering my questions.

    Regards,
    Krish

Thank you so much Jolly Shilpy for your prompt reply.

As We will not have any financial in flow for the coming year we want to keep it as low as possible.we estimated it for 1000-1200 GBP.

This info really gives me some idea.

    I appreciate your time.

    Krish.

    hi krissh!

The things which are discussed buy shilipy is correct.about finding accomodation of our interest and in our budget. You have to go through agent
and they charge.for couple with child not all owner will be ready to give their accomodation ,its awlful but its true.nowadays min 600 to 700pound for 1bedroom excluding bills is the rent.bills vary as per your usage.here council tax whcih come in bill for 2 people is around 90 to 100pond per month.thisis just an accomodation cost.day care for children is very high.£175 to 200/week.
For partime pre school admission your must be 3yrs old .here admission take place in september.for that they start taking application from januaray and i think they accept till june(please confirm the exact date and timings).the school timings will be around 9 to 12 or inafternoon 1:30 to 3:30pm for 2 to 3hrs depends on the school. And its free.

For getting jobs in and around london for good degree holder also its very difficult .becoz of competition in the market.after coming may u have to wait for say min2 to 3months.

Your husband to compelete degree with first class he ahs to concentrate fully on his study.if he thinks to work for even 20hrs it will bit tough for him to cope with.

From where you are moving to london? if u coming from your home town then i would suggest that you and your child stay back for some time. After when everything is sorted u both can join him.

    All the best ,

    hi,

Thanks for your reply. It is really awful to know that the landlords will not give for family with the kid.Is it also true in UK that kids should have seperate bedroom like in US.If we opt for 2 br apt our budget drastically increases.Hey one more question how will be the apts?Do they come with all aminities like stove, oven and wahsr and dryer? If not how to get them? Will there be coin laundry services?

We are moving from Hyderabad, That option is also not possible as my hubby is very dear to his kid.

How will be the weather in aug/sep in london?

I guess I have lot of questions...............

    Thanks,
    Krish.

    Krish22,

We also studied in LBS. Stayed in a student hall flat with self contained kitchen and shower (under Buckingham Trust) in Mecklenburgh Square. So, managed on Zone 1 carnets to travel.

LBS courses are very tough. It will be excellent if you can provide financial and physical support to yr husband.

Jobs available for spouses are in libraries (u can register in the central pool, they will call u), supermarkets as checkout clerks, translation agencies. Since u have a small child, u may be interested in working as a teacher in a kindergarten. That way you can keep her close.

I must say that inspite of all the difficulties we went thru, life in London and LBS was fantastic. I wish I could go back to those days. Wishing you all the very best.Enjoy!

    Krish22,

I dont think landlords will insist on giving the child a separate bedroom. Just say in Indian culture, we put the child to sleep in the living room or with us. Reg amenities, if u take a flat with washing machine etc, it will be expensive. Most apartmets will have good, hygenice central laundries and driers. When u get the apartment, check out specifically about council tax, payment for heating, power, water etc.
