    Dear Friends:hiya,

For a change, I am here to announce the forum of the month.

Swami Vivekananda said “Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man”

Education and Personal Growth is the forum of the month for July 2009.

A plethora of topics can be discussed within the boundaries of Education.
Friends, requesting you all to bring in good topics to discuss, that will be a helpful thread that can be used as a reference - be it career advice, counseling or guidance or educational reforms.

Friends ensure that the thread is lively calling for active participation from other ILites.

Are you new to the IL community? Want to know more about this contest?

Read here to know rules and guidelines for the "Popular Thread Contest" in the Forum of the month.

Some do's and don'ts to be followed for this contest:
    DOs:

    1. Make your contributions for this contest ONLY in the Education and Personal Growth forum.
    2. ONLY new threads started this month – July 2009 that get popular with maximum responses and participation from other members will be considered.
    3. Avoid threads on common discussions like "Career in general", "managing a career" “career after marriage” etc. Those threads on generic discussions will not be considered as we are expecting better discussions here, with highly qualified professionals and career woman amidst us, I don’t see any dearth for great discussions..
    4. The threads should be started about education – reforms/systems/guidance or personal growth so that it will call for participation from co-members to share thoughts about the same.
    DON'Ts:

    1. No posting (copy-pasting) articles or information from other sources (like websites, books, magazines, emails etc.).

What are you waiting for…all the best ladies…waiting to read and participate in some interesting discussions…

    Thanoli,

Bringing in your views on the quota systems and also making other participate in the same, without hurting any sentiments by mentioning the percentages given to some...is fine.

    Yes.

the success of a thread is not in your post alone, but in bringing in people to read the thread and also join you in discussing. this is the main aim in having the popular thread contest.

    Dear ILites,

The winner of the Popular Thread Contest in Education & Personal Growth Forum is.........

    Deepali_deepali

Her winning thread that got maximum replies and as well evoked an interesting discussion among other ILites:

    http://www.indusladies.com/forums/e...rowth/64382-have-you-had-personal-growth.html

Deepali clearly brings out the difference between Personal Growth and Educational Growth. The thread with participation from other ILites took us to a level of wearing our thinking cap as to whether we have had personal growth which is far more important and has true values.

Deeplai thanks for starting a very informative topic.

We would like to acknowledge her efforts with the specail gift - Ganesha Idol made of a Radium white material.

Hope this Ganesha brings you health as well as Personal Growth.

Congratulations Deepali, for having kick started a very valuable query on personal growth apart from education.

    Dear Friends,

When Induslady queried about a forum for the popular thread contest, i recommended education and personal growth, keeping in mind the 50k+ members .you are well educated and could contribute a lot towards the topic. with kids trying to get into colleges and parents having confusions on what is best, a better way of discussing all the options with all your views was what i expected.

Apart from this, I would like to put this view forward, that there should be active involvement by all. encourage not only your friends but others to participate in discussion and i feel that is what is going to make these discussions a success.

I did have to come in and say this as I personally expected a good number of topics in this particular forum as we have doctors, Phd., ex-principal, hobby photographer, entrepreneurs..and if few of them had come forward with showing about different options available and the resources, and courses available....it would have been a reference in the future for mom's like me who have kids who are in the 9th 10th..

No intentions of hurting anybody, but just putting across my :my2cents
