    Dear Chithramma,

sorry for getting back late on this:( I decided to make lemon rice and coconut rice with vazhakkai chips. dessert thinking of either mango shrikhand or a kheer but will also go through your sweets and dessert index thoroughly this week. I didn't see the nuts and dry fruits pulao in your index... i'll ask for it when i'm ready to make... first one by one i'll try all that i have bookmarked:)

    Dear chithramma,

To some other query you had replied that upma mix (given under jiffy thread) can also be made in rice cooker. Do we add boiling water, the mix and simply wait for the cooker to automatically switch off? Please explain. We are going on a trip this weekend and I would like to carry some mix (upma and lemon rice) and rice cooker:)

Latha, you can add cold water (the mix is anyway cold!), allow to cook & manually switch off when done (just to be on the safer side).
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chitra

I wanted to ask this for a long time. I sometimes make a chutney with only coriander leaves and green chillies to spread in a sandwich the taste is bitter. I usually grind only the leaves for this. Even after adding salt and lime juice the bitter taste is there. It is not too bitter but still can taste it .

Please give a suggestion. Thank you

    with best regards
    shubha

    Welcome to my forum,Suja.
Make milk in the same proportion with milk powder & water, as you always do. Boil & when it boils, simmer & add
lime juice mixed with little water
    OR
    white vinegar
    Or
1/2 tsp citric acid mixed with water
till it curdles. Then drain completely in a thin cloth & squeeze. Psneer is ready.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chitramma,
I am planning to make puranam kolakattai tomorrow, made the puranam sweet filling today. for the dough can i use ready made rice flour instead of grinding?
if so should i use fine rice flour ( the one used to make murukku etc) or rice puttu maavu ( i think the puttu flour is little course when compared to regular rice flour)
if i use this rice flour should i still use hot water to mix?
i saw u mentioned using dough hook to knead, should i use it from start to mix the rice flour and hot water or later? sorry to ask so many questions, but its been long time since i made the kolakattai and i am craving for all such stuff this pregnancy. amma will come only in 9th month and i cannot wait until she comes to taste all these yummy stuff. this is one big disadvantage living out of india:(

    Thanks,
    Chaaral.
