An excellent introduction to Upasana Yoga - though condensed, a lucid introduction!!! Thanks for this write up on the 4 disciplines and the 4 aspects of mental disciplines required for Sadhana. They are not only required for Sadhana, even for day to day living. I specifically liked line - "In speech, there must be quality and quantity control" - for the simplisity of expression.

Just this morning, I was thinking about the necessity for non-hurtful speech, while I observed that my kid aped whatever I did - if I screamed, he screamed back. Your post was like an answer.

    Dear Gayathri,
All your F b s make me heave a sigh of relief ! The subject is such, that I was apprehensive about posting it.
    In tamil, we say
    Kadukai kottinaal allalaam
    Varthaiyai kottinal alla mudiyathu !
Very often, we end up uttering words, more on the spur of the moment without thinking twice ! We promptly land in trouble as well !
In my younger days, whenever I had an arguement with V, I used to control my anger if the children were around because I knew , they will promptly follow me. Ofcourse, I would ultimately take it out on him, is besides the point here !:tongue
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chithra,

Another write up on Yoga discipline from your pen. As usual, you try to give us the difficult lessons in as simple a format as is possible only for you. I need to read these articles again and again to assimilate its significance fully. But I am excited that you are bringing such topics to us and am looking forward to learning more and more from you. Thank you so much.
There are many gems in this lesson. Manasika puja is a boon to any of us who do not have the facility to visit the holy places. Also, a form of concentrations which will result in peace.
To control one's speech in quantity and quality can only be good. These days, I am paying extra attention to this thought and am trying to practice.

    L, Kamla

    Dear Lavanya,
    Thanks for the F b.
The process opf manasika puja or manasika temple visit can be visualised, irrespective of time & place. Usually I do it definitely, when I go in the car, closing my eyes, because there is no scare of a phone call or door bell !
Real puja cannot be done at all times, for ex, without a bath, after food etc.
M Puja is ideal for all times. Once you start that visualisation, you will feel closer to God, as though He is very near you & the pleasure is immeasurable.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Kamla,
    Thankyou for the feedback.
Please believe me, I drafted this atleast 3 months back, but refrained from, rather postponed posting it because it will be "branded" heavy. But I cannot forever postpone because, before going into Gita, these have to be explained necessarily.
I love the experience of Manasika Puja because, it gives you a lot of tranquiliy & fulfillment.
Kamla, why do you worry about your words? I have always felt that you are one of the very very few persons who convey your thougts in such soothing, warm words. May your tribe increase in I L !
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear C

I am glad you did not defer the post any further. Why should you worry, these are Sanathana truths valid at all times...!

Kadukai....Varthaiyai... quote reminded me of my mom - She used quote that often..
