May be next time you might remember these videos I had posted and my reply and might think for a second, eh?:):)

My point is basically what you had mentioned earlier ASG. Just imagine, this cat of yours is you kid and you do know that its someone's dinner in far east? Just imagine your kitty cat getting lost in china on your vacation and ends up in someone's dinner plate?

Ok, I know, my imagination went too wild.. Sorry !! my bad

But, that's what I feel when people say they are pet lovers and still eat meat..

LOL LOL... there is a saying that if every human in this world becomes a vegetarian, I mean strict vegan, all this poverty is supposedly to vanish.. So why not? make some other makhani .. Sacrificing is good you know ;)

I hear you. But hope you read my other post as well. If it's crap, I guess you should just ignore it and move on you know. Why bother to justify your meat eating?

Animal Rescue - Come on MrsV. So, if I am in china and see people having dog food, I just walk away? I don't understand. Who is to say what is to be rescued and what is not?

Please enlighten me. I have been in actively involved from my teen in blue cross and 10 years in ASPCA. I don't think I need to list out my activities, but would be great to hear from you, what is that I am supposed to do to make me "the so called member" you are thinking off.

Adoption is not the only way my dearie. In India, I have seen people do that same thing. Adopt to prove a point and tie it for the whole day in the hot sun. I mean what's the point??? Just because you adopt it proves something? hmmm.. Anyways, I guess its best to leave it at that..

Of all the people, I thought you would have understood :)

Ofcourse love to do that all. But I ain't bheema :biglaugh:biglaugh or Anjaneya to appear everywhere. There are lots of things happening all around the world. I can do only what I can from where I am.

    Thank you. I will.

Hey, don't sweat about it. I am just a stranger thinking that way along with millions of other people  Go and savor that chicken curry now !!!

I used to be vegetarian. I've seen the videos before. I have guilt. :frown:
I've thought about that. Sometimes I wonder, why we eat cows and chickens but not cats and dogs? How did we come up with who should live and who should die?

But really, how practical is life without even dairy products? I don't think I could be without yogurt, milk, paneer... food is one of my greatest joys! For me, giving up that stuff would take my whole quality of life down a notch. Besides, my hubby LOVES meat, how could I deprive him?

Right about now I'm feeling glad gujarati dal is on the menu tonight...

    OMG!!! What a conversation!!

As per me, its so simple. Leave it to the people. Why worry about others and on what they do??

If a person want to be a Veg, let him be. If a person want to be a Non-Veg, let him be. Whats so bad ??? I dont get it.
Its sad to note that people treat others so cheaply as per their food habits.. Does'nt prove any etiquette.

As someone who has been both vegetarian and nonvegetarian, I think I can do justice to your question.

For nonvegetarians, eating meat is just a natural part of life. Like wearing clothes or brushing your teeth in the morning. Simple! In fact most never put a lot of thought into where their meat comes from or how it reaches their table. For other's who do know, it doesn't matter because the pleasure they receive from enjoying the meat outweighs their guilt.

For some vegetarians though, eating meat is like a crime against animals, and they feel very passionately about protecting them. Hence why you get some vegetarians trying to convince other's to stop eating meat. To them it's not just a personal choice, it's a matter of life and death. Just as you find people passionate about putting an end to child pornography, drug trafficking, etc, vegetarian activists also feel the need to take action against what they perceive to be a moral sin.

I admire Nandhu for giving our animal friend's a voice. :hatsoff But at the same time, I also respect my dh's decision to enjoy his shortribs. Do we find it rude when missionaries from all the different religions talk about their beliefs and try to convert us? If not, then why should we feel so offended when a vegetarian tries to do the same? If we are so confident in our own beliefs, we shouldn't be so touchy when others pose a different view point to us. Although some of the points Nandhu made were a little... extreme... it's ok, we all survived. :8) Those who want to eat meat can keep on doing so, those who don't won't start. But at least everyone got a chance to express themselves. :cool2:

Veg or Non Veg, Its upto peoples choice.

To judge people by their lifestyle is biggest sin in this world.

We judge people all the time. By their community, their caste, their education, their skin color, their height, their abilities, the size of their paycheck...

We also make moral judgments.... murder is wrong, rape is wrong, fraud is wrong.

Funny thing is, we don't mind judging others. But when it comes time for us to be judged, we get all defensive. Kind of like jokes... we laugh until it's our gender or our race being laughed at. Take a look at the thread "Is it OK to live together before marriage." People voted what they thought. 21 voted "NO." That means 21 people on this site thought my behavior was wrong, since I'm one of the ladies who lived with their husband BEFORE marriage. Did other ladies form a negative opinion about me and my lifestyle? Possibly. But that's ok! Look at the ladies on this site who have talked negatively about Americans, that they are promiscuous and don't take care of elders! Even if we actively try to supress our judgments, they are still there subconciously. Judgment is always there. Nandhu and the "friends" in the OP's original post are judging nonvegetarians, but at the same time, you are judging them of committing the "biggest sin in this world." It's an endless cycle! :spin

The reason why vegetarianism is so sticky is because for some it's a lifestyle issue, for others it's a moral issue.

For example, if you were driving along the road and saw a young girl being raped, you'd probably stop the car and save the girl, beat the crap out of the rapist. For vegetarian-activists it's the same feeling of obligation... they can't just let people chose to committ murder. Ironically, vegetarians are often harshest on themselves.... wondering if they haven't done enough to end animal suffering. In a way, they carry a heavy burden.

See Nandhu, there are tons of people who preach, protect the animals, save them from dinner all that.. fine, I agree, your moral beliefs and what not.. but that comment of yours is what got to me.

People in China are dirt poor, they will eat anything to keep themselves alive. Maybe not all, but these people just need food. A professor of mine was telling us in class, that when he growing up, they had to put rice and other stuff on a pole away from shelf in a pot of water so the rats won't get to it.

Maybe our situation is not as grave as that, but who are we to judge what people eat because of the society and the life they live? I personally think its disgusting to see cats, rats, scorpions dressed.. (dressed means cooked) but that's all they have.

I think the raw meat you are refering to is tartar - its actually cooked in lemon juice, the acids break down the enzymes just like a ceviche. I digress...

I am not justfying eating anything, but from what I read, it as though you were justfying for the non veg. that they are doing is wrong and you were justfying it by using ASPCA. I respect that you didn't bring in religion, but 99% of what I hear is "o you are a non veg" and I wouldn't hear any of it, I wasn't religious, which I am, so I am a walking, talking sinner to many people!:bonk

My cat rules my house! If anything, I am on a leash with him. People treat animals differently, so just show another side, a vegetarian, humaniatrian, an animal lover, adopts an animal and tie in the hot son, and treat it like an "animal" - or a non veg, humanitarian and animal love, adopts an animal and lets it live at home, so now what??

    To each his own..

I took 1/2 day from work to chill and I came home and I am on my laptop..:biglaugh

Have a wonderful weekend.. dinner time!! Mommy's cooking :cheers
