    BIMBAL JUICE

these fruits are widely available in kerala. they r called as chemmeen puli in malayalam nd birmbi karmbal in konkani.the bimbal fruit is known to control blood pressure nd cholestrol.

    INGREDIENTS

    bimbal fruit-4 no.s
    sugar-4 tab spns heaped
    drinking water-3 cups

    procedure

1.wash the fruits nd blend well in a mixie.

2.add some water nd turn the mixie on once again.

3.take a vessel nd strain the blended fruit nd add 3 cups of water to dilute.

    4.add sugar nd stir well.

5.pour this juice in a bottle nd refrigerate.(refrigeration is a must otherwise it does'nt taste well.)now the healthy cool drink is ready..:)

There are two varities in bimbal or karmbal .One is the smooth one , of which leela has given the photograph. Other one is ridged one ...easily available in India. These sour fruits are used to make pickle and used in curries to give sour taste . The ridged one is available in the grocery shop in the US . This is called STAR FRUIT. dear leea, have you tried the recipe with this ridged bimbal? As it is of the same family I am going to try it with the star fruit. The smooth one is not available here.

    hi leela
The one we get here is much much bigger than the one we get in India. Its about 5" length and 2" wide and juicy aswell. I will certainly give my FB after trial.
