Hello friends, i need opinions about moving from post doc work in academics to industry jobs. Once into industry would it be possible to get back to academics position? Also is it a good idea to move back to a junior position in government aided Indian institutes ? Any suggestions from people who are working in corporate sector in US would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you are money oriented ---corporate is the better choice.

I dont understand what kind of position you are looking back into academics once you get in the industry.

Industries in India are paying great these days especially if you have US industrial experience---it depends on your field too.

I have spend 30 years in the corporate world and enjoyed every minute of it. Have no experience in academia therefore unfortunately, I cannot compare the two. To be in the corp world you have to be ambituous and in the U.S. you always struggle with work life balance. Also another aspect to consider is who is the main bread winner in the family. If it is you, then the corporate world will be more attractive since you have many, many opportunities to grow in your career.

Any way all the best. Only you can make the right choice for yourself.
