Re: Second in a row for peas dhokla!!

Like you told to traveller, had put one small pathiram below and above dhokla pathiram was sitting. As soon as I opened the vessel, felt like the water was there; after 10 or 20 mts, did not see anything which never expected. Looks like have to give some standing time for dhokla too???

    Re: nombu adai

    chitraaammaaaaa.......

happy happy happy. can u guess for what i am jumping like this. yes, i am succeded this year for nombu adai.

came out excellently, without any mistakes, tastes good. only thing we all feel is, (for 1 cup of flour, i got only 18 adais) eventhough it tastes very good, not much to eat. usually i used to do with 2 cups of mavu but this year suffering with spondilitis, so i made with 1 cup only. uppu adai also came out really well.

    thank u thanku thanku........

with yr permission, i would like to say some words to traveller latha.

hi latha (do u remember me, u helped me a lot initially when i drowned with indus)

even my mil wont speak nice words. and she didnt even taught anything. by self experience only i learnt everything, by researching cookery books, etc. but nowadays we have got a "ANNA POORANI" (yes, chitramma only) to help all of us. after crossing 50 posts, i will see amma and will keep her photo in the kitchen as annapoorani.

even i am anxious to meet u also since u r coming to india. you can roast karamani (to avoid gastric problem). if u dont do it also, doesnt matter. either way you can do.

    with love,
    latha

    Chithramma, chithramma,

enakku santhoshathulla kaiyum odala kaalum odala.. eppidiyo amaidhi aagi type panren. first i made peas dhokla again today... viduvena! today i had about 3 tablespoons besan less in a cup so added rava to replace those missing spoons. Also as per your tip, was careful with water and placed the pan over dabara. I also ground the ginger, chillies with green peas. So those are the adjustments:) the result you can see for yourself in the picture..

nombu adai.. enna solla... you're Annaporani to us, as Latharam says. your vaakku that MTR rice flour must be processed baluchuthu. when i dry roasted the maavu and got kolam padam itself i know this will be success story today. you can be very proud of me because i used the karamani cooked water for vella adai and it gave a nice dark colour. pictures that speak:)

naan inikki romba happy, Chithramma. before i started making i thought of you only. and looks like you had lots of visitors today;) enakku news vandudhe.. poriyerinappave nenaichen....

    Latha

    Dear Chithra Ma'm,
Tried Peas Dhokla for breakfast today.Turned out 'mozkunu'.From other FBs i guess my water level should be 3/4 cup & not 11/4 cups.I cooked for almost 40 minsbonk.I have never tried dhokla before,so will try to get it perfect.
I've also fallen for the double coloured cake. After greasing the first layer with sugar & butter mixture we should pour the second layer on that ,is it?
    Love,
    Damini.

    Damini dear,

Looks like I narrowly escaped from dhokla disaster:hide:. Don't even add 3/4 cup water in one shot. I had bought peas again y'day and those didn't take all 3/4 cup of water. As Chithramma says when the batter is thick like idli batter, stop adding water. It depends on how much moisture the peas give out.

    Latha,

I am very happy to see you're getting familiar with IL technicalities:)... i think you are also new to using computer so hats off to you for determined learning. I must admit i got a bit impatient in the beginning that you were opening new threads all over... it's because we all become a bit protective about Chithramma and don't want (or rather don't like) anyone giving her additional work:).

Thank you so much for the encouraging words. I reciprocate your feelings today. Sometimes when i call my mother (she doesn't use computer) she isn't at home or something like that and my queries will have to wait. But with Chithramma she's always there, promptly, to answer all our queries...

    Take care..
    Latha

    hi traveller latha,

i am not new to computer usage ya. but home system is windows 98. it s not showing anything at all only gets shut down whenever i select. but weekends, my hubby will bring laptop. last week, in laptop only, i saw all of yr replies not to start new thread. so during week days, i am struggling to see indus with my computer. even whatever i am able to see in laptop, my home sys will not show.

see, today (laptop now),i am able to see yr photos without any struggle. looks nice ya, but my sys doesnt show any photos at all. we are planning to get a new one for our personal use as the laptop is an official one.

any how, you won with dhokla.:thumbsup:cheers(even these symbols cannot be added in my sys)

    bye
    latha

Dear KK, you are getting more & more interested in trying out recipes regularly, to my delight!!
Dhokla is a bit tricky, I can understand. But ukkarai is surprising. I feel, you should have cooked a little longer on a slow flame!
You all know my weakness for dhokla now!!
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chithra,
made vegetable medly for dinner yesterday with poori, yummy yummy side dish. We all liked it and hogged it. Instead of aloo with poori everytime, this is deliciously different.
Also made MW malai burfi , came out well but my malai got a little sour. Tasted like some bengali dish. Have ground batter for Chitvish idli, will make tomorrow and refrigerate sot hat I can make different idlis. I like when I made last time but did not get anything at all.
Chithra, another 5 days for Aravindh's exams to finish, I am getting a little relief. But only after the results come and he joins some good course, I can say I could relax. But it is always worry time for parents, isn't it?
