Toilet cleaning

Hello friends.
My mothers house in india has white toilet and white tiles(indian style).It is a nightmare to clean.I mean there are no toilet stains in it.But the problem is it is becoming yellow with water and dust stains.And it is really very very difficult to get rid of those stains.Even the toilet bowl has marks of flushing water(exactly similar to rib cage) as water gets flushed that way.We have tried evrything.toilet cleaning acid,harpic etc but no use.even after spending nearly 45 mins per toilet still they are not sparkling white.Any ideas????????Previously we used to live in flats and there also we had white toilet and my mom used to clean it just with soap water and it was ever shining,but now in our new house whatever we do it just wont work.
Also specially the area of the toilet bowl (indian style) where feet is to be kept gets dirty and has dust kind of yellow stains.please suggest some tips.Why some toilets are so easy to clean and some are not????????????? We had really clean toilet in our proevious house without much effort and now nothing works.

Hi preethi,

It is because of the water... no amount of acid, harpic is helping...i have tried everything.....even the tiles get the same kind of yellowish stain...but continously cleaning at least leaves it manageable...but i can understand how it looks....:bangcomp:. I wish i had some other color...

While cleaning the toilet with harpic or any other cleaning liquid,try adding a few drops of "robin blue" liquid.That adds to the sparkle.You can do the same while mopping the floor too.:thumbsup

hi

first of all ,keep a slipper out of the toilet and ask everyone to use that slipper only in the toilet.by this you can control the dust.

and also use harpic flushmatic product.

Sounds like those yellow stains are rust that is in the water. Some areas in USA have terrible problems with this (my area included). At my house there is a filter for the incoming water to the house that filters all the water for rust...these are not expensive although you need a plumber to put them in. Perhaps you can get one of those from a hardware store here and send to your mom and she can have it put between the tank and her house. These filter setups cost about $40 for the device and a filter and then the filter refills cost about $6-$10 for two. They don't need to be changed very often unless the problem is really bad but the savings in lost items in the house quickly compensates for the cost.

For cleaning there are a couple things you can get. One is called Whink! and it takes rust out of clothing and you can also use it in cleaning. You can find it in the detergent aisle at the grocery store. The other is CLR products which you find in the cleaning products section.

I have found another method of cleaning these toilets & they are working very well. Mix any good dishwashing powder like sabena & vim powder in equal proportion.Use this to wash the toilet once in 2 days.Makes it very clean.

Hi dear
i am having one idea. we tried. we rented our farm house for someone.when we went there we cant step into toilet. for that my mom applied bleaching powder throughout the bath room let that react for throughout the night ,in the morning as usual cleaning so now its good. try this one .

I also agree with geevee Vim powder makes a very effective bathroom cleaning agent. When you use it continuously for a week you can see the difference.
