A T is a very recently hyped event in the past purely for marketing benefits !

    Thankyou for joining us here.
The media will not highlight the punyam part because we will rush to do charity & will not boher about spending on jewellery ! It will be the shop's loss though our gain !

    Dear Chith,
I liked your write up about akshaya thrithiyai especially feeding poor . Can you pm the address of any poor home where the money is utilised fully for the purpose. These small notes of yours are real eyeopeners.
    God bless you,
    Regards,
    Meenu

    Dear Chitraji,

as usual, such a wonderful description of one of the most auspicious days in our culture. i learnt so many new things and would love to follow it apart from buying gold( which is our tradition).
feeding hungry people, and doing charity seems a lot more sensible thing to do then just thinking abt ourselves.
thank u for showing new direction.

    Regards,
    Aarti

    Dear Aarti,
    Thankyou for the feedback.
Do not miss out on tradition definitely. But remember that the perspective is larger & let us learn more about other aspects also.
I am thankful to you for your nice words.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chithra,

Very curious to know how your friend writes 'Akshayam' on the stove -- with rice-flour or kola maavu ?? Seems a wonderful way to begin the day/ morning ,and am very keen on following it. :goodidea:

An elderly lady who used to cook in our family home [for a brief period], used to draw 2 small kolams beneath the 2 burners on the ' medai' itself , every night after finishing the usual cleaning / chores. But in the morning , she would wipe it all again with a wet cloth & then keep water for boiling for coffee ?? So never understood the purpose of it all !
Is there any meaning or proper procedure to be followed before commencing the daily work and while winding down the kitchen at night ?? Please explain , whenever possible.

Also, didn't want to start a separate thread so am asking here itself .... what naivedyams are appropriate for which Gods / and for which festivals ? LIke , even for Akshaya trithiya is kalandha sadham & curd rice ideal ??
Recently for pradosham, I had made chakra pongal but a neighbour put me off saying only milk is good for Shiva ... so should make pal payasam or something with milk. I felt dull after she said ,'cos for all festivities / shashti / chaturthi I used to think chakra pongal as ideal , so was a must as it had both rice / dal & jaggery. But now, :confused2: :confused2:

Hope am not bothering as you are already extremely busy .

    Lovingly,
    Dew.
