Oh! How you would be wishing,
    Time had ceased to be,
    A day earlier or two,
So the man nearest your heart,
    Could live eternally!

    Earlier you've come to me
    Tears brimming your eyes,
    Looking for solace
In a dear friend that's me.

    Alas! Cruel Fate!
No more have I the face
    To look into those eyes,
    For solace I have none!

    As you hold my hands
And look up at my face,
    For some magic, healing words
    That could bring you back
    Those glorious years of past-
I look down at the floor
    avoiding your tear-filled eyes
Lest mine too begin to flow
    and break your little hope.

Oh, How I wish I could
    just put my arms around
And delight you with the words-
"Oh, cheer up my dear friend
    It was just a dream!"

But words have failed me now,
    Thus leaving you forlorn
    To brood your fate alone.

    God I beg of Thee!
    Give her that tranquil peace,
    That ever elusive peace,
    That desperately she needs,
    And also one more prayer!
Give back to her that smile,
    That childish, innocent smile
And courage too that she's lost
So life goes on and on
for the dear son that she has got.

(This was dedicated to my dearest friend Geetha, who lost her hubby on 8th February, 2002)

    life goes on
yes and doesnt wait for anything
but still we need to live our life as and how it takes us
    i cannot express my feelings
whn we see death so close and in our own family we find the pain so much
my husbands brother passed away last june
    leaving his wife and son
so bad isnt it god give pain so much as much as he gives pleasure
whn we get pleasure we take it for granted and make merry
but we cannot digest the facts whn its pain
    god bless us

    Dear Radha,
First let me convey my heart felt condolence to you and your family for the loss of your B-I-L. As you rightly said, we take pleasure for granted and when sorrow strikes, we are shattered beyond words. Recently, in DD- Kannanin AAramudu, Sri Velkudi Krishnan said. Each and every pleasure that we go through, we are losing out on the good Karmas of our past lives and as we go through sorrows we are losing(exhausting) our bad Karmas. On the whole we are losing something! so why not we take solace by saying, "I have suffered the punishment of one bad Karma and reduced it by One!"Ofcourse it is easy to say such things. But if we look at it from a practical point of view, we have no other choice but to undergo sorrow when it strikes. So, maybe we can convince ourselves through the above statement when we regain our mental balance.
    Rgds,
    Malathi

Now my friend has slowly come out of her grief. She being a doctor, keeps herself busy with her profession. But whenever she is down, she comes to me for solace.I am happy that I am able to help her in some way.

    Dear Malathi,

Straight out of my heart is a wonderful piece.I was looking for it , from the time you mentioned about it in my post.
    It is a wonderful tribute
More importantly Malathi is the fact that during these days when it is so difficult to find a true friend, You have proved to be a gem.

    May your friendship last forever.

    Regards,
    Devika

    Dear Devika,
Thank you for bringing out this thread once again! Some more people may read it and leave their comments. I wonder how you knew that this was the poem dedicated to my friend! Some intuition, I suppose!
    Regards,
    Malathi
