dear hetal,
:)
40% glycolic acid will not be avilable to u at any chemists because the dermatologist whom u are visiting is diluting the concentrated acid for u and using it
My sincere advice to u is glycolic peels should be performed by qualified people and your doctor isnt charging u much .Kindly remember it is ur forehead and ur face which u are dealing with by trying to get glycolic acid from ur chemist isnt like using any fair and lovely buying and applying it glycolic acid has to be diluted and applied in the affected area for few seconds to minutes if ur timing isnt correct or u over keep the chemical on ur face u wud definetly spoil it by getting some burn marks or over peeling for which u might have to spend more
cost of crude glyoclic acid is v high and it is avilable with shalaks company if u want to try if u still w ant to proceed i wil give u the trade name of it but my suggestion is already 3 sittings are over u might be needing 3-4 more better to finish with ur doctor
please do not try to get it done at a beautician also as it is a cosmetic procedure and should be performed by qualified people.
hope u would take care of urslf
use sunscreen lotion as specified by the doctor orsle ur condition wud worsen further.

Thanks a million for enlightening me, your suggestion is worth million dollars, I will get is done through a professional. While surfing through the net I had come across few brand (on-line marketing) selling this product but it is sold in the U.S (Priced in dollars) hence I thought if this was handy & was also available in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" />India for Domestic use.

hi Radha

Thanks for putting your views. But as Hetal has said, I did get the acid peel solution from a doctor while I was in US. I diluted it to around 10-20% and use it for 5minutes almost every week. The next day, my entire facial skin glistens. If overused, the burn marks remain only for 3-4days which happened only initially. Now I use it regularly. Plus in USA, Loreal has already introduced in market under brand name - RENOVISTE, which has 10% solution of glycolic acid. So its quite safe if the person is not allergic and provided the right timing and concentratin is followed. Yes, like Hetal said, the procedure here costs a bomb. And if the person is not allergic to the solution, why waste money in a clinic when one can do it safely at home? Since my solution is almost ending now, Can you direct me to the name of the supplier? Would like to get it again. Regards Laxmi :-D

Dear lakshmi

If you get the correct product and procedure to perform the peel and ur confidant enough u can always proceed .But at the same time we will not be sure of the effect u mentioned u are using it regularly means how often how frequent reading ur post i felt as if on a daily /weekly basis is it safe to continue peeling ur skin even with 10% peel for longer duration?
products like Retino A and Glyha etc which are medicated products and regularly refered by doctors for skin peeling home applications are also asked to be used only for few days.
kindly take care of your skin maybe over usage would worsen ur condition and a procedure which has to be performed clinicaly shd never be self made .my feelings are so .

which supplier name do u require? pl be clear .

hi hetal n radha

i m also agree with Rv as i m also taking this treatment (glycolic peel). i'll suggest u that glycolic peel should be perfomed by a qualified dermatologist.
i m taking this treatment in kaya skin clinic since last 2 yrs. here i m paying rs. 1100 per sitting thats why i m feeling ur doctor is not charging u much.
i've completed 17-18 sessions n now using 70% peel.

hi RV

As for my home usage, I use around 20% of glyc. acid once in a month, since past 1.5years. I did visit Kaya for their dermatologist's advice. She told me I can use at home, provided the allergy test is done first. Since I had already used it earlier, she said its not an issue. So once in 15 days i do a peel, then in the next 15days do a skin polishing from Kaya. This plan was given by the dermat itself, so that the cost was reduced from 14k to 4.5k. What she had told me is to do this for consecutive five months and then maintain with once a month treatment. So thats what I am doing now. If you visit Loreal US site, their dermat has even given a demo of the complete way of how to do it at home, provided allergy test is done first.

I share the concern of all of you too, since the treatment has worked badly for a girl I know. But once a person is used to the treatment, I guess its safe to try at home. But of course, its upto us to decide.

Regards
Laxmi
