    Hi Ladies,

I saw 2 Indian married men teasing a lady who was just standing waiting for her husband to come out of the SYA temple, their wives were encouraging their men to tease the poor lady by laughing loudly & clapping their hands with utter joy at the comments these men were passing on that lady. I have not seen this happening in India as men respect other people's wives. But this is more so in the US with the Indian men teasing other women. Has anyone noticed this?

I always felt after marriage a woman is secure of all these untoward happenings but was left to disbelieve this belief of mine. Also being a woman ourselves, can we encourage our men to make other women a part of their comments & teasing?

Women are each others worst enemy. I can't believe these people would tease a lady at a temple out of all places!! People have no shame, can't correct them but I am positive God must have seen her heavy heart and sadly enough, those 4 will get what is truly deserving in due time.

I have never actually noticed Indian men "teasing" women per say at a temple or anything of that sort, its too bad and shameful that in happend at a holy place.

No I have not noticed that either. Is it possible that they know that woman and have had an argument or a fight. This might be the reason for the absolutely ridiculous behavior.

Very shameful behavior by those men and their wives. Ok, maybe the men are tactless fools, where was the women's sense to stop them? :confused2:

My husband makes fun of people in privacy of our car and even then I get mad at him! He spots a chubby person eating a big mac in the car next to us and he's like "Ohhhh, look at that!" and makes stupid chewing noises and rubs his belly. shakehead

The irony is my dh is now chubby himself! So I remind him "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" or the other fitting saying "it is like the pot calling the kettle black!"

I feel a lot of time people make fun of others to make themselves feel better or because they think it's humorous. In your temple scenario those men and their wives were the ones looking like supreme losers, not the woman being made fun of.

    Hi Sharda,

It didnt' look like they knew the lady. She was in her mid 20s wearing a beautiful long skirt and looked very fashionable. To me it appeared that they were making fun of her like strangers do. I think they were getting the thrill of passing comments on that lady in general.

Erm... the women were probably just JEALOUS and their husbands must have been ogling the pretty lady while pretending to laugh at her. What a bunch of losers.

Wow thats very weird. I haven't seen such behaviors either. I hope you perceived the situation in a wrong way, just for the sanity of other woman who was being abused. Its not fun to be in that place at all. I would have definitely done something if I were in that poor woman's shoes. Since this happened in US, may be a 911 might have served good.
But on the other hand, that woman might not have heard any of these comments. In that case, yes I have seen people comment woman like that. my own husband and mil keep commenting on various sized people and I get very angry at them for doing that. Good thing is they stop in front of me but they still continue to do in other places. I strongly believe that, if you know how to respect woman or people in general, you would respect one and all. It will never be like, oh this is my wife, so I will respect her and this is some others wife, so I don;t have to respect her etc. Good nature flourishes everywhere and same way a person with bad attitude will reflect the same every where.
I wonder, what these husbands will have to say on their wives, the day the wives does not cooperate with them or does something the men do not approve?

Sorry if I have deviated the topic. It boils me a lot when ever I heat these respectful behavior stuff.

    Take it easy :cheers

    Dear Shakta,

I am surprised to hear that married guys would tease a married woman and that too with their wives. Even more weird that such a thing happened in US.

But the women doing this is disgusting. Some women bother only about themselves and their husbands and consider themselves good wives if they support their husbands with anything and everything they do.What kind of wives are these - encouraging their husbands to treat a lady like this in temple premises. What if they received this kind of treatment from someone else - I bet it wouldnt be a nice experience.

Again, if I was in the other lady's position, I would just IGNORE them. From their behavior, it is clear that they are some uncultured lot.

    Pardon my rather rough comparison..
It is like - **** who have nothing better to do bark , as long as they dont come to bite, who cares ....

    Hii
I am so so disgusted to hear about married men teasing a married woman. In the vicinity of a temple makes it worse and with their wives clapping in background makes it, unbearable.
I second Malyatha. What a bunch of losers !!!!
I have never encouraged J to tease woman. He seldom does it. Neither have I encouraged or stood with my male friends(co-eds) when they tease girls. But, when I am with my female friends we do occassionally pass comments on people, their looks and dress (ofcourse, it has no gender restriction). Well, I guess passing comments (not within their earshot ) is not teasing.

Shakta, if i were in your place, would have gone and asked that foursome how they will feel if they were in that wonman's place.

We are as guilty as those 4 who were teasing for just standing there and not taking any action. If you were helpless you could have gathered some responsible people and brought to their notice that such behaviour is not acceptable in the place of worship.

Sorry folks...but sometimes we have to take initiative to ward of the negatives.
