    Dear Sridhar,

Oh no Sridhar, sounds so sad about Lakshmi. What a craving? Though you didn't mention I am quite sure she is an olden day Lakshmi.Don't think so modern women will let her husband in after such a gap and of course, any men for that matter need her wife to be with high IQ. I am confused I don't know whether she should be called a fool or not.
    Love,
    Meenakshi

    Dear Meenakshi,

It's really sad. But we can't comment about her craving. Almost all men and all women have that kind of craving. But very few admit it. Lakshmi being a very naive character she openly admits her need for male company.

Many of my women friends have condemned this post. They say that this is demeaning a woman. I don't think so. If Lakshmi is good, smart and has a fierce identity she would not have done like that. But if she is good, smart.. etc there won't be any need for that.

When I was in college doing my B.Com my friend's friend got married. That guy was 17 at that time.
"Getting married at 17?" we all teased him first.
Then he showed his would-be's picture. My God! She was short black and fat with an ugly face.
My heart bled for that man. But his bride was exceptionally wealthy and even in those days (late 70s) they were settling properties worth a few crores in the bridegroom's name.
The bridegroom then said that with that kind of money he could even spend a day with Sridevi (the heartthrob in those days). When I heard that I felt very sorry for the girl he was going to marry. My heart bled for the children who will be born out of such marriage.

We can call Lakshmi a little bold and outspoken but never a fool.
Sorry for the delay. When I first saw this I was in Chennai and hence could not respond to it on time.

    love,
    sridhar

    Dear Varalotti,

Nice thread. I don't know if Lakshmi is a fool or not. But I know one thing she has very low self esteem.

Holding back intimacy is one of the strongest tools woman possess. But when woman are unable to control their urges then we become like animals. This natural ability to control our sexual urges is the reason why woman are smarter than men.

So in that sense yes, Lakshmi is a fool.

    Dear Sharda,
thanks. Your analysis is pretty sharp and to the point.
Women hold back intimacy when there is some hope for it in the future. To a person like Lakshmi where no hopes are there, what's the point in her holding back sexual intimacy?
And Lakshmi could know all these subtle things and think rationally then she would not have been a dullard, in which case all these things are not necessary.
Considering her IQ and her present state in life, I cant say that she's a fool.

thanks Sharda once again for the kind fb.
    love,
    sridhar

Well, Srividya, about fufilment of physical needs, it is better we leave that to the individual judgment of the concerned person. I don't think it is neither fair nor prudent to impose an external standard on this. We don't know how she had perceived that need and how intense it was for her.
Anyday Lakshmi is better than many women who seek an outside affair to gratify their physical need.
And anyday it is better this way than to have an affair with an outsider who will be only as immoral and as unethical as her husband.
Well, she could have divorced her husband and could have married somebody else. If she could do that then she would not have been a dullard in the first place.
    love,
    sridhar

    Sir,

I think Lakshmi is neither a fool nor n intelligent woman. She is totally confused person is what I would say. Agreed she did not go outside the marriage for gratifying her pleasures, but then does shenot have the ability to think like normal people...
What guarantee is there to say the husband had not strayed?
She is not a magnanimous person either....
Sorry sir, but physical pleasures , being given as a reason to take her husbnad back everytime sounds absurd.

    Regards,
    Viji

    Viji,

Now we need to step into the shoes of Lakhsmi. Remember the period was 60s when divorce was unheard off and womens emancipation was still a big joke. Given that of circumstances and given Lakshmi's physical needs, I think she took a wise decision.

People might think she is a fool. You know what she did? She made her husband a male prostitute.

    thanks for the fb, Viji.
    regards,
    sridhar
