Hi friends, I am planning to take up IELTS to equip myself and to find jobs here in S'pore, esp in the teaching line. How do I go about preparing for the course? Are there any sites where I can get help from? Those of you who had already taken this exam, can you tell me how you prepared for the course, please? Thanks Poornima.
Hi Poorni Our SBRose has just completed IELTS successfully. Hope she can guide you. But I don't think you need to complete IELTS to work in S'pore. Please correct me if I am wrong. BTW did you go to the mass recruitment conducted by MOE, in Raffles Place last week? I heard from from friend that they were looking for candidates who want to enter teaching line (that is, without prior experience in teaching). Check MOE website, if you have not done so. And if you have not noticed, FYI, SBRose has mentioned that there is vacancy for IT admin in GIIS, if you are looking for a job opportunity currently. Best of Luck!
Hi Poorni I can guide you with your IELTS preparation. Need to practice some tests within the given time frame. I have some sample test materials also. If you are keen on taking the test, PM me your email id, i shall mail you all the test materials. Good Luck !
Hi Rose, Thanks for offering to be a guide. I gladly accecpt it. How long does the preparation take and when can I apply to take the test? Can you also let me know the proceedure for registration and other details? Thanks Poornima.
Hi Abhi, Thanks a lot for all the info given in your post. Sent my details to Rose. About the mass recruitment, if you are mentioning about the seminar conducted by e2i on 13th, yeah, I did attend. It was for pre school jobs. It was in that seminar did I come to know that IELTS is mandatory for foreginers from non english speaking countries to get a job in a pre school center (new guidelines of MOE, to maintain the preschool standards!!). If you are talking about a different recruitment drive, I am not aware of it. I shall check the website and see how I can get to them. I had tried for teaching jobs a couple of years ago when I was here, but unfortunately MOE turned down the application because of a foregin degree. I also got to meet a few more indians better qualified than me (M.Phil holders) whose application were also rejected. They have their own policies!!!! Thanks again. Bye Poornima.
Hi Poorni It was actually a week of recruitment drive conducted by MOE in Raffles Place targeting the working force in the Central Business district who wants to switch careers and also who wants to enter into teaching force without prior experience. It was a kind of walk- in interview I think. Also FYI, there is a walk in interview at NUH on saturday, if you are interested in healthcare positions. The ad was on last saturday's Recruit pages of The Straits' Times. Please Pm me for further details.
Hi Abhi, Thanks for the info. I was not aware of the MOE recruitment. I wonder if they will consider if we contact them over the phone. Sorry about the late reply..I had been to Malaysia last weekend. Yeah, atlast got to go or rather drag my husband along!! Shall post the details of the trip here after sometime. Thanks. Happy New Year Poornima.xcffd b
