    Dear Sridhar,
Will read all the other 7 stories.True Sridhar Hamsanandhi is a haunting raga. I remember one more song in this raga 'Kalayum neeye' I think it is from the movie 'Thennilavu'
    Love,
    Meenakshi

    Dear Meenakshi,
Thanks for offering to read the other seven. Some of them are quite controversial.
I have heard that song too. AM Raja's voice, Gemini Ganesan acting for that.. great song, great words and again a haunting song, thanks to hamsanandhi.
    love,
    sridhar

think that Lakshmi's decision was right. Its 11.30 p.m now so
I am going to sleep. I think tonight in my dreams Lakshmi will
be coming as I am thinking of her and going to sleep.

    Will write tomorrow

    Good night

    with love

    Dear Viji,
Lakshmi is such a character who did not care to think whether her decision is right or wrong. For her the choice was simple. On one side was her identity and on the other, her security. She chose her identity.
While I am happy that you will be thinking of Lakshmi while going to sleep. I don't want your sleep to be disturbed on Lakshmi's account, or rather my account.
    Take care.
    love,
    sridhar

    Dear Sridhar

I went to sleep thinking of Lakshmi and I was not getting sleep. Got sms from my elder daugther who is in dubai whether we are all ok at 12 p.m. Since i was not sleeping I could read the msge and did not know why she is asking then I phoned, she told me about the bom blast in Bombay.

So instead of thinking of Lakshmi I was thinking of the Bomb blast. Now coming to Lakshmi I agree with Sharada's and Jyoti's views and in the end feel that what Lakshmi did was right.

I am surprised that being a man you have written in favour of Lakshmi and as a mother I am proud of u. Your own mother must be very very proud of u.

In olden days women wanted security as they were not working and had to entirely depend on their husband for everything. They cant leave their husband because their own people also wont encourage them as they had to hear from the public.

But in present times women stand on their own legs and want identity more than security. After engagement many women have refused to marry as their would be dont want them to spend too much , to be economic and should not go out late nights. These two cases happened in Mulund, Bombay, where I stay.

Now I will go and read the story about the other Lakshmis.

    with best wishes and blessings

    viji

hmmmm good question on whether she did it right or not...i beleive she should have asked her husband to take the responsiblity of kids as now he is back to hsi fatherhood. and tell him softly that both of them can live separate and be good parents to the kids rather than trying to get backtogether.

It was a bad time she chose to test him....as per me its clearly evident when once man strays!! his attitudeis out in the open....and we all know then why test such man at all...why not keep him away and also make him realise his responsibility towards his own kids..but seems like lakshmi wants to continue taking responbility of the kids rather than taking any favour from such a irresponsible and selfish person

A practical solution, Srividya. But we always forget that a womans identity is more precious than even her children or her security.
The question here is that she is ready to accept her husband who had gone astray. Why not he reciprocate her magnanimity? He can't because a man can go astray but not a woman. That's what the society demands.
The children had been with her all along. How could she leave them to her husband's custody now? She does not even have the mind to accept his money.
Happy that you found this Lakshmi interesting.
    love,
    sridhar

    Sridhar Sir,

I read the story just now .

One way of looking at it: Lakshmi did the right thing . The husband , after having gone astray, expects the wife to totally trust him when he says he has changed, also wants her to accpet him. He , on the other hand, cllas her names!!!! When Lakshmi has provided all these years for her kids, she sure will be able to help them in the future too!!!

Other way: Lakshmi should have waited for some more time ...atleast till her son got a good job. After giving the kids financial stability, she could have tested her husband .

I go with the first one, for to me waiting and then ditching him, looks like a cinema climax. The will power she had , when she was deserted by her husband, porvided her a way.
At the same time I don't agrre that the kids suffer because of their father. No ways!!! He was not there in the first place as a "father"...he lost it the moment he laid his eyes upon another woman. If the kids are smart enough , they will truly internalise the sacrifices their mother has done for them and go in the right way!!!!!

    Regards,
    Viji

    Dear Viji,

I am happy you are able to concur with Lakshmi (and therefore with me). Do you know I wrote a whole serial SHE only to drive home the lesson that for any person especially a woman her identity is more precious than the security, her kids, her family and so on.

While the Indian family system is the holiest of all, many times we see women losing their identities for their husbands and families.

May be Lakshmi could not have given the same kind of education, lifestyle like her husband. But her children are going to grow as independent individuals, self-made with a good sense of values. At the end of the day that is far more important than a seat in the engineering college or a high paid job.
    thanks for coming in Viji.
Actually I wrote a series of Ashtalakshmis. Eight different situations. Try to read the other seven.
    love,
    sridhar
