Yes, Sudha, use the mixie. But chop fine & just mince, pusating frequently. Do not add water & do not mash fine.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear mam,

Recently got a microwave idli maker as a gift. Today i tried it successfully. But i have some doubts in it:

    1. Like usual cookers i covered the plates with its own lid. And i was able to get soft idli's in 5 mins.Is this the correct method or should i leave it open upon the base vessel

    2. I added little water in the base compartment and kept the idli plates on it like we do in pressure or idli cookers. Hope this is correct?

    3. Above all, my idli plates have small small holes in it(very minute, just a needle can pass into it). When pouring the idli batter it doesnt leaks but once when i opened the cooker after done i was able to see the batter slightly mixed in the water of the base. Though not a mess does it happens all time? Moreover i tried just 4 idli's (1 plate) what if i keep more plates one over another; will the batter drop into the next plate?

Please clear my doubts when you find time. Also share me some tips if you have while making idli's in it. Thanks.
