Oh my dear gf cum daughter,
sorry to have hurt you. When I coined the title I never thought it would be this hurting. I am terribly sorry. Please forgive your Dad.
Well, to compensate that, I shall start the new serial a week earlier than I had originally planned.
Thanks for wishing good life and health for me.
Don't worry Madhu, I wont go till I have written at least a 100 serials, each of them at least as good as ALS.
thanks for the concern. I cant thank you for the affection. I can only salute it.
    love,
    your appa cum bf

What to do Swetha, my profession as a writer is nothing but attention grabbing. Now tell me if I had given the title as 'The Great Director of Tamil Cinema Dead' it would be as lifeless as the news headings given in The Hindu. The ladies in this site will see the title, let out a big yawn and then go to the recipes section.
I thought Indhu alone would be cornering me on this. But now she has somebody with her. I need to be extra careful in future, Swetha.
Convey my regards to your Mom.
    love,
    sridhar

    Dear Sridhar Sir
I'm unable to control my laughter after reading your post ...
As I always say, your sense of description is too good ... I could actually imagine the ladies yawning and clicking on the 'Ask ChitVish' thread!!!

Amma also conveys her best regards to you. I told her about this thread yesterday. We all had a hearty laugh at the dinner table on Indhu ma'am post!!!

    Dear Swetha,
I am happy that I made you laugh. Humour has never been my strong forte.
The other day an ILite pulled up for not introducing enough humour in an emotional love scene where the lovers re-unite after ten years. Well, I did want to give a try to that. But when my trade mark humour comes in, then the whole scene becomes a comedy with little love in it.
Indhu saw the title, glanced at me threateningly with her 70mm eyes and went to her system. I knew that something was going to come. And she came back with a victorious smile. I understood the meaning of the smile only when I saw her reply.
    love,

Sorry Vidya. Somehow when I was writing the title these words stuck. Only later I realised that I have hurt many of my daughters and friends. Sorry once again.

    Dear Sridhar,
I agree with you that with the entry of sridhar, the film director ,entered decent and wonderful films that you could watch with your entire family.
I remember Kalyana Parisu and the comedy scenes even today.Comedy that wont make you squirm in your seat, comedy that never had to resort to vulgar language and double meaning dialogues.Thangavelu's comedy scenes in this films ,according to me are immortal.
Even the song'anubhavam pudumai' the lyrics are so sensitive in spite of being hot stuff, and the picturisation so beautiful.
He was a true romantic person,he paid tribute to romance and love thats why .his romantic scenes are a treat to the eyes, they never make you feel uncomfortable.
Once his films started dwindling,it was the entry time for comedy that is not adults only, but comedy that caters to the tastes of some funny people.Excepting that legendary comedy scene in Karagattakkaran, the banana joke that has been immortalised by Kondamani and Senthil,I can't think of many decent comic scenes in todays cinema and romance means singing fast numbers and doing aeobics synchronising the song.Am I right?
You have paid a sensitive tribute to the great director sridhar.

    love
    mythili

    Dear Sridhar,

After quite a break, it was only today that I logged in to see what was happening in my dear IL. First thing, I looked through the home page when this title caught my eye. I rushed to read it in order to know what our Sridhar was up to this time round!...(I know you by now and your penchant for catchy titles!!)

But...I was very much saddened. Because, I knew director Sridhar personally. Along with B R Panthulu, he too was one of my dad's close friends. I don't know if director Sridhar remembered me, but I remember him very well and very affectionately.

Like you and many here have said, he was a path breaking director of Tamil films in those days. It was he who brought Saroja Devi to limelight...of course along with many others like Muthuraman, Kanchana, Ravichandran, Kalyan Kumar and Devika etc etc.

Just as I was giving up on Tamil films, he brought Kadhalikka Neramillai which was not only one of the best breezy comedy film of India, it was also done with great style and taste. I know that in Bangalore atleast, all my North Indian friends rushed to see that movie. BTW, it was released by my dad's office with great pomp and it ran and ran and proved to be a winner. I remember taking part in its premier gala release garlanding the heroines and taking an active part at that time...the only time my dad allowed us to be such an active part. Kanchana and Baby Sachu shared the room and Sridhar was also put up in the same hotel.
When I was admiring the tiniest Sony transistor in his room, he insisted on giving it to me as a gift. I accepted it with much embarassment and thanks and this little Sony had kept me company many a night when I used to keep it under my pillow and listen to musci steathily while mom thought I was fast asleep. I loved this little transistor and I even carried it abroad with me when I got married and left India. Come to think of it, it must be lying in some carton in my basement to this day!!!
So sorry to read that he passed away. A very creative person indeed.
May his soul rest in peace.
Brings back so many memories and so many wonderful songs....
....Unnai kandu nanada ennai kandu nee aada ullasam pongum indha Deepawali...........
And he is not there for this Deepawali...

    L, Kamla
