    dear bas,
Oh, I'm sorry. When I was writing the title for this post I remembered that I am his namesake and that I got my name because of him. I thought it was but apt that I mourn his death. And my name is sridhar. Technically the title is not wrong.
I could have written Auditor Sridhar Mourns the Death of Director Sridhar. But tht would by prosaic, would be roundabout and finally, in this site I am not revealing my dimension as an auditor.
I could have said Writer Sridhar Mourns the Death Of Director Sridhar. But in a way he is also a writer. So it would be confusing.
So we are left with just this topic.
In fact this topic does not in any way smell bad. When we say somebody mourns the death of somebody else, the mourning person should be alive and kicking, right?
Anyhow, bas, I am moved by your affection. I also received a couple of mals from my daughters and GFs warning me not to be so rash again.
I bow down to your love.

When Sridhar wrote comedy we could not control our laughter. But when he wrote tragedy or when he just created a love scene, we will be in tears. He is one of the very few Directors who can make you cry in a love scene. These days the Directors make you swear or shout while watching a love scene.
    Hats off to him.
    love,
    your boost

    Dear Saraswathy,

Wow, what a smiley it was! It gasps in shock and then rotates itself so fast that seeing it I felt giddy. All those movies were all-time greats. Not only he introduced Kashmir. It was he who first brought in the concept of shooting in a foreign locale. It started with his Shivanda Man.

Thanks for your kind wishes, Saraswathi. But I would rather be a writer and watch somebody filming my novel, especially something like A LOVE STORY.

    thanks once again,
    love,
    sridhar

    Dear varalotti ,
Yeasterday I was shocked to hear about the demise of the great director . Today the shock i had on seeing the title of this thread was worse . If a popular person by my name passes away & if i start a thread with a name similar to the one you have given , what will be your reaction ? Please let me know varalotti .
Of all his movies , the one that affected me a lot was 'kalyanapparisu' . I was crying for hours ( silently) after seeing that movie .' Nenjilor aalayam ' is also equally pathetic , but in that movie the person who meets love-failure dies away whereas the hero in the other movie ( kalyanapparisu) just loses his love in a moment's time ( not being able to reach the marriage hall in time) and has to spend the rest of his life only with the painful memories . That was the peak of sorrow. Hats of to sridhar , the director .
May his soul rest in peace .

    Indhu.

    Dear Sridhar Sir

I knew there was some catch to that title!!! But I didnt think the story would go in this direction. I was under the impression that you are mourning the death of your original self and writing about something like a 'pudhu piravi' of Sridhar!!!

I didnt know this director by name, but I've seen all the movies that you have listed in your post. All were beautiful films, and as someone has mentioned, I love the scene of Nagesh narrating a story to Baallaiya in Kaadhalikka Neramillai.

Director Sridhar may have died, but his movies will keep his memories alive in all our minds. May his soul rest in peace ...

I couldn't have said it better than Swethkrishnan. Exactly how I felt.

I very well remember " Nenjil oru aalayam" and" Kadalikka Neramillai"-- real classics. I am not familiar with the other movies, would like to watch " Kalyana Parisu".
May his soul rest in peace.

    Dear Meenakshi,
I have made the great Meenakshi break her silence. I can pat myself on my back.
But thanks a million for the concern.
Honestly Meenakshi I just wanted our community to know about the great Director and pay homage to him. I could not think of a better way.
And when I mourn somebody's death it only means that I am alive and kicking.
Dont worry, Meenakshi. I will live long. Write at least a hundred more serials in IL.
I should confess that I am moved by your concern.
    love,
    sridhar

    My Dear SriPa,

I thought that you got rid off something you might have wanted to, in you. My dear sis swetha and Buddy Usha have reflected it, too.

You have summed up his creations wonderfully. He was a legend and trend setter. His films were named for 'triangular love'.

It is no exaggeration to say 'Kadhalikka Neramillai' Balaiah-Nagesh comedy is a milestone of Tamil Cinema.

So thoughtful to write about him.

May his soul rest in peace.

    Love,
    Your dear DD.
