    Thanks Sudha!

    Dear Sudha,

    Thanks for the kind words.

As you people have observed it is very difficult to take the effort based on such words. Especially for people like us who have lived more than half of our lives. But if I could get across this message to clean slates, youngsters in the threshold of life, then I am confident of making a change in the world - though it may be very small.

    Stay tuned for future episodes.

    regards,
    sridhar

    Re: Sunday's with Varalotti

    Hello Sridhar,

Devathudhar kadhai made a nice reading. Inspite of being short and simple leaves a strong message about self confidence. From childhood I always loved reading such kutti kadhaigal. Good to know that now I have a chance to read the same penned by VR.

The old father not only gave a solution to the other father's problem, but invoked the confidence in the other four and made them feel good about themselves.

BTW, when you write a story with a Christianity surrounding, how come you got the right words with the Christian touch??? Like 'jebam', 'vallamai' and more. I have heard good artists mold themselves into the character they enact, but now I am seeing a writer molding himself into what he writes. I really felt like I was reading a story written by a christian writer. Wow!

    Thanks Malathy!

    Hello Malathy,

The mere fact that you found time to post in this thread amidst your busy schedule of managing a vast and varied site by itself is honour enough for me.

The current trend is nobody wants a direct advice. They want a parable, a story
to indirectly say whatever the person wanted to convey.

In this sense the world has come a full circle and is now returning to the days of Jesus, Aesop who taught by parables.

And thanks for the nice words on my writing about christianity. Though I am a staunch Hindu I love all the religions and have read their scriptures. I know Lords Prayer by heart. I have marvelled at Jesus' parables. In my book on religion (which is likely to be released this May or June) I have discussed the subtle meaning of Jesus' favourite parable The Prodigal Son.

And in the story Mannippu which came in Vikatan in 1999 and got the Tamilnadu Govt Award for promoting religious harmony I had dealt with confession, especially when it is administered to a dying man. In that story a Christian Father will hear the confession of a dying Hindu and let him die in peace.

And finally the writer gets identified with what he writes. That is the major reason that every story retains its original character.

    Thank you Malathy once again.
    regards,
    sridhar

    Re: Sunday's with Varalotti

Like reserving the dessert for after-meal, I read this last after reading the other threads of Varalotti. Enjoyed it immensely.

First of all, thanks to Rajmiarun ( nice name, btw!) and Chitra ( as usual, bringer of good bodings!) for bringing this to our attention.

Yes Sridhar, looks like you are going to be here all over the week:) Am not complaining, mind you.

Yaar andha devadhoothar? Agreed, 'devalaya- ruins' alla, 'patheriyarum' alla, it is Varalotti saar dhan:) At least, you seem to be Varalotti, with your thought and conscience provoking writings. Great work, keep going and all the best. Glad to know about the Singapore sightings:)

I also did the same thing, Kamla!

In the same way you reserved this as an after-meal dessert, I reserved writing a response for you as an appetizer for writing responses to the next post.

And thanks a lot for elevating me to the rank of Devadoothar; well at home they accept 50% of it. They accept that I am a doothar no doubt. But for whom is the question. The consensus back home seems to be for Lucifer.

Thanks Kamla once again. Looking forward to your continued support, encouragement and inspiration.

And let my posts continue to be your preferred after-meals dessert.

    L.,
    Varalotti

    Sridhar,
sorry for the veryyyy late response...
Went through the 1st episode of 'Thannambikkai valarppom' serial..

That incident and the moral reminded me of my mil's words..that 'you can shape up a good man to be a good man always by saying that he is a good man'...in this case, he would be afraid to do things which would damage his image...:thumbsup

first have confident in yourself...then we can move on..confidentally facing this world...nicely explained..

Thanks Rajmi for starting this information and Chitvish for providing the link..

    Sriniketan,
as there is no time limit for responding there is nothing called the late response.
I used this same concept in ALS when I introduced the story of seven cows. And the story comes throughout the serial every time with a new twist. Your mil gave the crux of this post in a few words.
And in ALS 13 which I am posting today I am giving a Rig Veda mantra. I did research for two days and had to consult three experts in sanskrit to get the real meaning of the mantra.
If you have time please go through that part of the story. I have not yet organised the episode into parts. It should be in the first four parts.
    thanks for the fb, Sriniketan.
